Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Hi Rich,

Thanks, be great when the whole car is in Red! I'm using paint code 5113M Monza Red, just waiting for some to ne mixed up to do the boot & rear valance.

Am really pleased with the finish on the wings, was much more solid & hardly any 'fine' scratches from the mopping, this is the second car I have used with the electric polisher so have it sussed this time, plenty of water spray! Using your advise with the Autoglym resin polish, again applied & buffed with the electric mop really brought a smooth glass like shine 8) I have applied a thin coat of High definition Auto Glym wax so far! All this after leaving the panels to fully dry & air for 7~10 days.
Next I'll paint strip the rear wings, front scuttle panel & the rear window lower panel.

I can't get enough if my wheels too! really should polish them as I'm off to the Mopar Nats at Santa Pod end of the month 30~31st July

How is your latest project ?

Cheers Damian

That's going to look the dogs b*ll*cks when it's finished
What are those round things in the rear reflector lenses ?

They look like "blue dots" to me, aren't they illegal ?

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Yeah... but blue dots look cool! Legal Schmegal!

Your car is looking awesome already Damian, there is something I love about a rust free, half painted car on a set of immaculate rims. Probably reminds me of the old 'Garage Scene' section in Street Machine.

I know what you mean mate. I couldn't drive a half painted car myself, but it has a certain presence in those photos. Just needs to loose an inch or so from the ride height and it'll be sorted. :)

Damian, do you have a tell mark on the rear lamp surrounds where the old curved reverse lenses were now that you have the flat S1 reflectors?

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Hi guys,

yep the wittness marks are there or rather nice clean chrome bit where the reversing lense covered the area, they are indeed series 1 lense covers, reverse lights didnt work anyway! The Blue dots are a traditional hot rod look from way back, Illeagal if you have them in the reat light lense ifself but as mine are in the relfector then there ok. Boot & rear valance are now painted, waiting for them to fully cure before flattening in mopping.

Adam, Had an awsome time at Santa Pod over the weekend, The car performed like a dream, long trip from Somerset to bedfordshire!
The event was the fantastic Mopar Nats, RWYB race weekend Full of Dodge Chargers, Challengers, Plymouth Road runners, Cuda's, 60's style Gassers etc, V8 heaven, great selection of Hot Rods & the Jet Car!.

I just had to run the P6 down the drag strip, did three runs, average of 17.8 seconds over the 1/4 mile, best reaction time of 0.7 second, not super fast but felt like 180MPH! I think the Rover was loving it, had a great run back to Somerset, I wont even mention fuel cost.... but hey its all about enjoying the car! its only money! Will post some picks, my friend had a multi fancy radpid picture taking camara so he got virtually all of my first run including my fair burn out! well the NSR tyre lite up nicely...Am still in V8 nitro heaven, dreaming of TVR 4.9 block with high rise tunnel ram, Holly carb n bug catcher thru the bonnet!

I've been up and down the M1 a few times in the last couple of days and saw some nice motors. I guessed there was something on at the Pod 8)

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

There were certainly some glorious V8 Detroit muscle on the roads!

Right some pics of the finished boot lid, lost the V8 badge though, Ebay should sort that!

Also some pics of the Mopar Nats & a certain Rat looking P6 Blasting it's way down the 1/4 mile strip at Sants Pod last weekend:D !

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Looks like you've got a good gloss on that, excellent.

I love the way this is getting done one panel at a time, and staying on the road, I can imagine people seeing you drive past every couple of weeks thinking - "wasn't that wing brown last week ?"

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Hi Rich,

Thanks mate! Every body asks if I cant make my mind up on which colour to have, I say which looks the most new & shiny! The RED !!
I've set the standard to get the whole car looking like the front wings & boot lid GULP! Be winter by the time I finish! not cheap either at £30 per litre of cellulose! oh and + VAT :(

Just added the pics of my 1/4 mile blast! was awesome!

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

Hi Adam,

Cheers dude!

"so, did you beat the 'stang then?" Errrmmm well not exactly  I think his 12 second pass was a bit better than my 17.8 second run!

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

MMM
Quite like that red/black combination youve got going on the boot and wings

Re: P6 V8 project: Alloy wheels fitted! time for bodywork

I saw your car got a good reception on Retro Rides earlier this week too.

I haven't seen that one Damian - I'll have a snoop aroundwhen I've got 5 minutes. I started a project thread on Retro Rides too but I forgot to keep it up to date.
