My V8's makeover 2011.A respray, seat and webasto roof refurb

Bit more done today,no rust of any concern found on the inner n/s wheel arch area,or under the rear and front valences.
Trial fitted tobacco front valence as its the best of the lot, will stonechip it then paint it,same as rear valence,as they will hardly be seen, and get a lot of abuse.
Existing ns/r wing is excellent, underside was stonechip and painted back in 1995 has lasted well, will keep as spare as red rear wings, and red front ones are nos, with stonechipped undersides then painted years ago, fitted and car never went back on road.
Put the crappy nsr turmeric wing on and tobacco rusty rear valence.
Wont bother with bumpers until its all going back together.

that's not bad at all corrosion wise is it!

wont take too long to get fully sorted i hope!

Rich

I know behind the sills is good, also the floor and under the front wings, but I havent had the o/sr wing off for a few years! X fingers its as good as the n/s!! :)

Brip6rover has given me a code for maxmeyer paint, but does anyone else have any other paint supplier codes for rover arctic white??

ICI codes for Arctic White are LRC273 or NCA.

They are both the same colour, coming up with the common ICI Ref 9191

Took the rear screen deck panel off this aft,and compared it to the one I had in stock, even though it is in very good nick, the red one is almost rust free so will use that.
However i do need a new deck to screen seal,so if anyone has a spare very good one or a new one,PM me.
Under the deck, boot hinge area is in very good condition,no welding needed, but will give it a top up spray of stonechip underesal.

I may be about to obtain an LPG kit for the V8 and therefore will fit another chrome fuel cap on the drivers side of the rear decker.
Does anyone have a rusty one but with the cap section intact they could chop off and send me?
I can then play with the spare one I have, as I will need to keep 1 good rear decker incase I F### it up!

Took the nsr wing off for a looksee today, had a good poke and its not bad really, just surface rust and 1 fingersize hole right at the top corner!! :)
I fitted a new bit of door seal rubber trim channel on the D post, got to do the same on the n/s as well.
Will treat all surface rust with some inhibitor/converter before undersealing.

Dean came round with a paint sample he did of arctic and it aint right? I think his computer got the wrong code as it has a greeny tint to it!
Have polished up the protected from the sun bit of the front screen decker under the bonnet and will get him to match that.

I know fuel's expensive, but do you do enough miles per year / per lifetime to make a conversion worthwhile...?

Hi Phil.

Dont forget the V8 is my daily driver!!
I probably do about 3k miles annually!
And as Chris says its Pilkie prices,,
I can get the complete kit off a running car,and get a donut spare wheel/floor mount tank all for about £150,fit it myself and I have got a place I know that will certify it for me.
WAHAY my 2000th post,I was watching for it but missed the magic moment!

Ah! But don't forget we're talking Pilkie-Prices here!

Chris

Ha... What are you implying?

Next time I have a list of parts I want, I'm going to pass it to Pilkie to get them. He seems to have a knack for finding the bargains that's for sure.

How weird, that's the code I always use :?
Hope he gets it sorted for you :)

After very carefull checking through some old colour chips,Dean and I have decided that its current white panels were painted in Std Ford diamond white.
That would make sense as I know that they were painted at a Brunel Ford bodyshop back in 1995,ish,as the son of the guy who had them done was a manager there.
The 1st set of 4 panels are now with Dean,he reckons on 2 wks to do all of the 16 panels.
If anyone has the correct paint code for the huntsman sills,it would be worth checking out to see if it matches, otherwise he will just best match the current brown on them.

From Erik The Viking:

I've just painted the sill covers on Erik, the correct Huntsman Brown, After trawling through colour chips, and getting it wrong once! (oops, expensive primer then!) I have discovered that RAL8014 Brown is a damn good match. Well at least to Erik's original Huntsman roof anyway.
