My project... Now MOTed!! ... Again..

Re: My project... More progress now...

Well Unfortunately it failed.. :( But only on one thing, the only thing I hadn't checked, which was the hazard warning lights. I checked the indicators, and they all worked, but the hazards refused to function. Still at least that's all it failed on. I'll have to do some investigation, but I suspect its just a relay problem, the wiring is all pretty original and un-messed about with. Hopefully back for a retest within 24hrs.

Re: My project... More progress now...

That's a shame :( . Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to fix. The scent of new MOT certificate is in the air....

Re: My project... More progress now...

That's a shame , gotta be an easy fix though if they all flash through the column switch . Good luck .

Re: My project... More progress now...

It's passed!! :D I had to work a 12 hour shift today, so to get the retest done in a timely manner, I let the garage sort out the hazard warnings. It was only a quick fix, they had it done in no time. The only downside is that after 3 years of hard work, it was my missus who got the first drive of it when she picked it up... She just called me at work to gloat..  She says it drives nicely though... Its torture, I tell ya, knowing there's a nice MOTed V8 at home, and I can't drive it til tomorrow..

That's a plan! Bournemouth is only about 45 miles from me, so we'll have to do that.. 8)

BRILLIANT!!!

I hope it's everything you dreamed it would be.

Nice one

Richard
I'm sure it will be.. it finally passed with no advisories whatsoever, so apart from the tiny problem with the hazards, I'm really pleased. Off down the post office 1st thing to get the "free tax", then we're going to take it for a gentle drive, not too far, to give it a bit of a shakedown, seeing as it's not seen the road since 2005 (I bought it as a semi stripped non runner in 2008). I'll take the camera & get some pics. There's a couple of nice scenic spots nearby, with the old hampshire roadsigns, with no modern things in the way, so I'm going to try my hand at some "old" looking pics. 8)

The fail is long forgotten  It's all about the pass

If it had to fail, I'm glad it was only because of a dodgy electrical connection somewhere, and not something more serious.

Got my tax disc now, and I have to say there's something deeply satisfying about being handed a 12 month tax disc without parting with any money..

Re: My project... Now MOTed!!

Most excellent news & well done. All the hard work has paid off. :D :D :D :D :D

Re: My project... Now MOTed!!

Thanks guys, (and gal!) The first drive went without incident, the car behaved itself impeccably, didn't haemorrage any fluids, stayed cool, and retained excellent oil pressure. The only slight hiccup was with the autobox. It has a tendency to hold on to 2nd gear going up through the gears, and also when slowing down. It did start getting better towards the end of the drive, so hopefully it'll free up, lets face it, it hasn't made it into 2nd gear since 2005! Took a nice leisurely drive out to a local country pub and enjoyed a most excellent lunch. Is it normal for people to do double takes as you drive past, and stop to chat every time you stop? :D

Here are some pics of my first ever P6 drive.. I'm well & truly hooked now..

Looking good! People always want to stop and chat about it! It's a car remembered fondly I think by a lot of people.

Oh yes

Don't be surprised to come out of the pub/supermarket/whatever to find a person or persons having a look around it.

First time I took Wendy to B&Q in it, she was amazed at the number of people who stared at us, and couldn't wok out why to start with.

Enjoy 8)

Richard

PS The people who did that sign post can't spell 'Brighton'
