The View From The Windscreen

I've been meaning to post these photos for a few weeks. They're all from our holiday down south where we stayed in the New Forest.

This is the Needles and Allum Bay viewed from across the Solent near Hurst Point.

This is not quite the view of Lullworth Cove I was looking forward to, but it does sum up a typical British summer's day out. Bus trips, umbrellas and cheese and pickle sandwiches eaten in the car.

Random cottage somewhere in deepest, darkest Dorset. Note sand spots on the bonnet provided by heavy rain at Lullworth Cove.

This shot of Corfe Castle came out quite well.

Sunny day and a trip to Beaulieu

I was hoping to get some good pictures of the run to and from Goodwood as there's alwasy lots of interesting things to see, but the battery was flat in the camera by that point.

I don't have a Rover here, so these are from my Jeep. They're in the Wadi (river) at the base of Jebel Hafeet which is the tallest mountain in Abu Dhabi emirate (about the same height as Snowdon). The plastic bowl was part of a driving challenge that involved an egg and an attempt at smooth driving.

On Friday I managed to clock up about 300 miles in JVY :D . I drove from home near Glasgow down to Dumfries & Galloway in the South West of Scotland. Ending up in Port Patrick before driving home on one of the few very nice summy evenings we have had this summer. JVY drove perfectly and I took a few snaps while driving along.
Familiar views - I used to live in Troon (wish I still did)

Just a couple from our road run on Sunday

Loving those desert pics.... If only there was a viking badge that'd be a certainty for the theoretical calendar!

All taken in June last year through various car mirrors:

Blue skies?? what sky, I just want your mint looking dash top  antipodean cars suffer horrenously from UV damage and subsequent cracking, even when cars are mostly garaged.

That's a replacement dash top that I fitted early last year because the original was cracked. I'm sure they can be repaired and covered in fresh vinyl or maybe leather, but I never got round to trying it.

Gee there are some really great photos in this thread.. :D

Frozen P6 moments in time. Fantastic.

When I started the thread, I never dreamt it would turn out to be so popular... :D

These four photos were taken on the morning of Oct 3, 2012. The first one is a few km from the village of Billimari, which is about 13 Miles (22km) north of Cowra, N.S.W.

The following two are within the village, the grain silos which used to be serviced by rail are now in the hands of road transport. Sadly the branch railway line was closed 30 odd years ago to all traffic.

Just out of the village, a local Farmer moves his small flock of sheep from one paddock to another.

Good pic's Ron. That clear blue sky and those long straight roads look like perfect P6 cruising conditions  . At least one of those sheep seemed to be taking a special interest in your car :D .

Thanks Steve... :D The weather has been really lovely this Spring with clear blue skies a common feature. Once you leave the East coast and head over the great dividing range, the roads especially those within the Central Western region tend to be in the main fairly straight with little in the way of traffic. The Rover really revels in these conditions, sitting on 60mph (100kph) for hours and hours is entirely possible.

Sheep tend to be quite wary of cars when they have to pass one, cattle on the other hand are much less concerned.

Nice pics Ron they look relaxing if you get me

Thanks v8guy,... :D They are very relaxing. With little in the way of traffic, driving is such a joy. I can choose to listen to either the radio or a CD or the throb of the V8... 8) all in comfort and with some lovely views.

Over the past two weeks I have been on a trip into Sydney. Along the way I took a series of photos, some of which I am posting here.

Climbing Victoria Pass up to Mount Victoria. This marks the beginning of the run through the Blue Mountains.

Sublime Point is approx 30 Miles (50km) sound of Sydney. Although not seen through the windscreen, I have included these two shots purely because the scenery is spectacular. These two views are looking south.

While there, a Ferrari trio arrived. I waited till they fired up their engines before I too left. They sounded nothing like my Rover, their exhaust note was high pitched and quite scattery. In this case, the view was from the rear windscreen.
