Johnny!
Forgive me if I'm wrong but I also seem to recall you be-moaning the fact the lack of lively discussion on the forum.
I couldn't care less how much money you made (I predicted in my first reply the seats would fetch a high price) but I say again, all buying guides stress that mechanicals are the least of your worries with a P6 & that this one deserved better. Also again! Brakes & tyres are consumables & good, 2nd hand carpets are, dare I say it, Cheap. Engines & 'boxes can also be picked up very reasonably.
I wouldn't have bought it as I have enough cars on my plate but an offer to real P6 people such as club members may have elicited a worthy price (I agree that £200 would have been a feeble offer). Forumers only found out about the car when you pointed the way to the seat auction after which they & ebayers were asking why you were breaking it & you told the forum it had needed too much work & the ebayers it was already too late to make an offer for the complete car. If the whole car had been offered via the club someone with the necessary MAY have taken her on for a price you were satisfied with. If not, as I said, then break her. Would a couple of weeks really have made that much difference. IanP6man may have done the same thing but I wouldn't have approved of that either.
Good items can come from 200,000 milers though not in such a complete package which is why I still think she warranted a bit more than immediate breaking.
I was thinking of bolt-on spoilers but I have a hunch that even when I see what a police spoiler looks like, I won't be going mad for it. As far as I'm concerned, spoilers do for road cars exactly what it says on the tin.
Alimorg........ Rarity value is alright as long as you don't want a P6 (or any classic car) as regular transport & are more worried about investment potential. We all saw what the '80's boom did to the classic world & it wasn't a pretty sight. P6's are already rare enough to be admired & commented upon wherever WE go & they're better off in the hands of enthusiasts than speculators (Though I'm NOT suggesting that anyone in the forum is any less than an enthusiast).
