Jinx's Record of Improvement

Well today I found out that the company I work for are "Rethinking their commitment to the UK market" and the long and short of it is... I have lost my job. Despite my love for Jinx, the luxuries in my life are the first things that I'll have to address. I'll post a listing in the for sale section too, but PM if you're interested. You all know the car if you're reading this, MOT until October, Tax Exempt - £3295 ono please people.

Hi Adam

Sorry to hear of your Job loss, shame you have to sell the car, my heart goes out to you mate!

Hope you stay on the forum & find a new job soon!

Good luck ! Damian

Thanks Damian,

Tell me about it, Jinx and I have been through a lot together and I'm really going to miss it if it comes to selling.

It's the sh**est thing losing a job... well, actually worrying it's going to happen feels worse than it actually happening for a strange reason. At least you know where you stand!

If someone on here buys Jinx, they must make a promise to continue this thread too!

Good luck in the job hunt ,Once you've lost your job , you can take control of your future .Up until then your employers have control of you

What a bugger for you Adam...and the knock on effect of having to part company with Jinx as well.

Good luck with finding another job...and hopefully then another P6.

Do hope you stick around on the forum...and maybe hitch a ride with Paul to some rallies as well.

Chin up mate...every cloud, etc....

sorry to hear about this mate, its a real shame, hope you still going to be on the forum and hope you still come to some of the shows with paul, good luck mate i wish you the best of luck in finding a new job.

My advice to you is to keep the car, it has cost you far more than the pounds that you are charging as any one who has restored a classic knows you can probably times it by 5 or 10 before you get to the true monetary figure. Jobs are out there and it only a matter of time before you secure a one. My own personal feeling towards Cherished assets is that once they are paid for they are pound neutral. I know from my position it is easy to say as i dont have a mortgage knocking at my door demanding feeding however the the old adage act in haste and regret at leisure comes to mind.

Hopefully you'll find another job and it won't come to that but I think it's safe to say that if someone here does buy Jinx then that'll be a given!

Good luck

Dave

Mate, I'm sorry to hear about your job and having to sell Jinx, maybe your Dad could 'buy' it temporarily? I hope your new venture takes off quickly.

Anyway, there's always a seat in my car if you want a lift to a show in style.

Still hunting for work, interviews lined up but it's not easy out there at the moment!

However in the interim, Jinx has become a daily driver. I considered getting a cheap hack to run around in, but by the time I'd bought and insured it I don't think I'd ever get back what I'd lose in fuel money just running Jinx. Plus I know it works!

After reading about TVR_V8's ball joint saga I was a bit paranoid about mine. There was an occasional vague knock coming from somewhere around the front left side on rough ground, and it was wandering a bit under braking (Testrider reckoned it was pulling a bit to the left under braking when he drove it too). The last thing I needed at the moment was to have my only transport off the road with terminal suspension failure, so this morning I jacked it up and had a poke around. There wasn't really any slack in the ball joints, but when I wobbled the wheel about there was a knock coming from somewhere in the steering. Further investigation revealed it was my steering damper/relay that had worked lose. I managed to get three of the four bolts tightened up, it's just the rear-most bottom one that I can't get to. My sockets and spanner collection just won't fit down there, but I'm sure three out of four will hold for the short term... won't it?

Good decision on Jinx, Adam.

Underlines my contention that the steering idler security is a much overlooked defect, and more common than people think!

Jinx has been serving me well, we went on a 180 mile round trip to St Neots for an interview today and it didn't miss a beat. We got admiring glances and a few thumbs up from the other morning traffic.

However in other news, I went up to see my parents in Jinx the other day and after being parked for an hour it obviously got a bit bored I imagine, so decided to go on a roll about, backwards into a dry stone wall. Soooo has anyone got a fairly respectable rear bumper kicking about? Not after show standard, just decent. I know they're hard to come by and mine was a bit pitted anyway, but now it's pitted with a not so pretty dent in it.
