Wasn't the layout of the front suspension to accommodate the gas turbine setup?
I know the plan was dead by then, but the design carried on albeit with a regular Infernal Combustion Machine.

Not to mention that the V8 was already in use in the P5s....

You're missing knowledge. The way you wrote your comment made it sound as though it went into the P5, making it the P5B, and then went into the P6, making it the P6B.

The V8 engine was actually fitted to the P6 long before they fitted it to the P5. The P5B only went into production first because the P6B failed crash testing, and had to have some minor body redesigns completed.
