The false boot floor looks great Gar! I think I want to make one now. Better than having the spare sticking up on one side and it lowers the center of gravity.

I've got a couple. One fitted to my NZ car; the other is floating around somewhere.

I do like that false floor.
I decided to remove the spare and jack and a heavy tool roll, I weighed it all and it came to 34kg
It did make a very noticeable difference to how the car handled during fast left / right bends. I carry an inflator/ repair kit now.

Wow, I just did the maths on that. It represents 3% of the total weight, that's pretty significant.

My toolbox alone must be around 30 Kg alone. I have never needed it away from home, but there you go, i feel better when i am out and about with it in the boot. I remember when i had my Rover painted, i had to drive it stripped (no doors or panels at all) around a yard to move it from the painter to the panel beater etc. It wasn't any significant distance, but the way it picked up its skirts was impressive!

Reading that l'd be very tempted to run Bruiser with my 75's spacesaver which l replaced with a full size wheel.
Of course it won't fit though.

Well it is an easy one to test, just drive your favourite B road with all your clobber in the boot, and then empty it and do the same.
I have been focusing a lot on spring and damper rates, so I am very tuned as to what the car is doing, in my case the car was way more chuckable.
Just make sure that you have the same fuel load each time.

Ok, found it. I can see where it fits, but are there any fitting instructions? e.g. how high to fit it to clear the map reading light, fixings holes equidistant from the map light, anything else I need to know before it goes all FUBAR on me?
