Latest Update and it's all good news !

Today they let me come home from the 2nd round of chemo, it's all gone well and I've recovered quicker than last time, so far so good !

I found out earlier this week that my sister is a bone marrow match, so I've got a donor ! I've been referred for an urgent transplant, although it may still be 3 months away, depending on a few things. We haven't had much info about the transplant yet, as that will take place in Leeds, rather than my local hospital, so I'll have a few meetings over there first where they will explain it all. Pretty scarey stuff, but it does give me the best chance of long term remission.

On a slightly less exciting note, but important all the same, they've been experimenting on me !
I have long been told that I am allergic to penacillin, and that is how they've treated me so far, but it rules out quite a lot of powerfull antibiotics and during the transplant I'm probably going to need all they can give me. The thing is nobody in the family can actually say for sure that I've ever had a reaction to it. So finally we decided that whilst I was in hospital and recovering well, they'd just give me some and see what happened, and 24hrs and several doses nothing has happened, not a spot, so they're fairly confident now that I'm not actually allergic at all.

So that's where I am at the moment, they've effectively got me in a holding patern for the transplant, depending on how long I have to wait I may have to have more chemo in my local hospital, to make sure we keep the cancer in remission.

Oh, and I've got too much Iron in my blood, so I'm some medication to remove it, this involves a 12hr drip each night, so while I'm at home I've got to do this myself, strange thing is it turns you pee rusty ! They say the blood transfusions I've had have caused it, I'm convinced it's all the IrnBru I've been drinking !!!

Anyway, I've just been sat in our lovely garden, watching the butterflies and bees around the flowers, it's so nice to be back home !

Great news Richard

Many thanks for the kind thoughts everybody, and very good to hear from you again Hector.

Whilst out in the garden I took a few photos, thought I'd post them up, I think you couldn't fail to be cheered up after coming home to this !

Good news, Rich. :D :D

That's a super garden, although it looks like you had one of those palm-type trees up until last winter!! :(

Thats a lovely garden Rich must be great to sit out there with your iron bru ! Not this weekend though if the weathers anything like it is down here , not sunny Bournemouth this weekend .

No indeed, currently peeing down :(

I can't find a photo at the moment, but when we moved in, there was no garden here, it was all gravel with 6inch of hardcore underneath, the only thing we had was the pond (which hadn't been installed level so we had to pull it out and do it again). So we're really proud of it, still plenty to do, and to be honest my wonderful wife does most of the gardening, she certainly has the eye for it, I just get roped in for the digging etc..

It's amazing how much wildlife you can get in such a garden in "suburbia", as I said we had butterflies yesterday, along with the frogs, we also have hedgehogs (I somtimes find them in the garage !), and get a great selection of birds. The other day my wife was sat out quietly reading and a squirel ran across the back of the bench she was sat on, scared her half to death

It's good to have a balance between all the cars and a bit of nature, works for me anyway !

Yes we actually had 2, another one round the side of the house, both are dead now, I don't think I've seen one around here that survived, it's a real shame, this one was quite big and had flowered.
