V8 engine rebuild has started (3500)

Thanks for that info John, I did hear, either on here or a range rover/land rover forum, about the likelyhood of holden (VN) V6 timing covers being suitable. I've googled VN timing covers and came up with the following web links and also Buick timing covers and these web links.
I see also a Triumph/Rover Spare company in South Australia selling a Rover front timing cover with Hi volume pump with the similar pointy (vee) at the sump flange same as the VN link but a bit pricey just to get the hi volume oil pump if ones own timing cover is OK.

looking at the photo of the VN front cover in the link below I'm not sure if it will fit the rover V8, I think we would need to have a trial fitup with one??

The next link is to http://www.britishv8.org

And another link for Buick Timing Cover with Hi volume oil pump which if suitable for Rover V8 (it does state for Buick 215) looks a good price as the Aussie dollar is pretty much parity with the US and all depends on frieght costs from US to Oz.

A quick edit to add another GM Buick link,

Another edit (bear with me  ) with this link which talks about the Buick V6 having similar oil pressure/volume issues with our beloved V8 (which of course have same front cover oil pump assemblies)

UPDATE on head gaskets; not being happy with the head gasket kit supplied and the bore size of the gasket being 93mm compared to the rebore of block at 89.3mm, I purchased a composite gasket kit from Rimmer Bros (while they had their Worldwide Autumn Sale) and am now happy with the better size at 91mm (RB listed as for 88.9mm bore engine) and visually better quality UK made gasket which has a wider steel ring. So the larger bore gasket must be for a 3.9 engine??

Rimmer Bros 3.5 as stated for 88.9mm engine (actually measures at 91mm)

Compared to the first head gasket supplied below,
