Total brake failure discovered just before a good blast!!

Went to give the rover a blast at the weekend and it had no brakes!
Pedal to the floor,no fluid, topped it up and it was ok,,, for about 10 mins then fluid dissapeared,so drilled a small hole in the rear caliper covers to check for leaks and all was well.
However on removal of the servo vacuum pipe, dipping with a bit of tube and blowing, there it was,all 1/2 ltr of it! :(
If you have unexplained fluid loss and no sign of a leak check this out!!
As if the fluid level in the servo reaches the air pipe then it will be sucked into the engine and you will have a huge smokescreen making you think your engine has blown up!
Fitted my spare servo and alls well, and on stripping it,it turned out to be the small piston seal between fluid and air that was totally shot.
Will rebuild the servo and paint it up ready for when I get round to pulling the eng/box and tarting up under bonnet area this winter.

Blimey, Sparky used to lose around 1/4" a month of brake fluid because of a leaky servo. I've never heard of one that bad though.

As Dave says, couldn't have happened at a better time.

PS.
If anyone happens to have a spare rear caliper piston seal or 2 or even caliper seal set, give me a shout!

Cheers
