Tiny's getting his sills done

Here's hopefully a few pictures of my '67 2000 or Tiny as he's known undergoing surgery to his inner sills & D-posts

if you open a free photobucket account,and download your images onto it,you can then use paste the img code into your text to create the pics without size problems.

Ah! well I've already got one of those so I'll give it a try but I'm as thick as a castle wall when it comes to this kind of thing :oops: do you click on img then put the photo title in between the two thingys that come up on your message??
 
Hi Yep.
Click over the img code,then when you write your text like this,right click once and click on paste. Do a quick preview to check its all worked and then submit,and bobs your auntie!!
You could do it this way,I have left the start of the sequence off,the [ so you can see how it should read.

I admire people who can cut all that metal away
I'd start panicking or put it back in the garage , lock the door and throw away the key
 
I too admire people with the guts to have a go!!
I would of called the scrapman,and found something more solid to start with ,but thats just me!
I have no problem with,and dont mind doing a bit of basic maintainance welding.
I can understand if the car has some sentimental family value.
I am sure that if ALL the bodypanels were available new,somewone would attempt to build a brand new shell.
A few years ago, and to save it from the scrappie,I bought a ' 73' 2000tc that was an abandoned project.
I didnt have the time or space to rebuild it,otherwise I would have,but I had to save it,or at least try to!!
Its base unit had been very well and fully repaired,but I couldnt sell it!!
All the other parts were there, either new/recon,or refurbed, I couldnt even find a buyer who wanted an easy winter project,so reluctantly I broke it and the phone didnt stop ringing!!
The eng was sweet and I think was a recon,and the box was good,they went to the states!!
BUT I couldnt sell,or even give away the almost perfect base unit,so,very reluctantly and sadly it went to the crusher,as I didnt have the space to keep it forever!
GO FIGURE as they say!!
 
Believe me that call to the scrapman nearly happened as I had a cracking 3500S shell & I've got a lovely V8 in a rotten car & was very tempted to make a nice one out of all of them but the yard the shell was kept in changed hands & the new owner gave it away to a scrapman :( & to top it off it was registered on an XC plate WXC996L or something similar cant remember exactly.

But then I thought just bite the bullet & do it & to be honest it's taking a long time but it isn't half as scary as I expected, I don't think I would have done it if I'd had to make all my own panels though.

I think the weather might beat me & I'll have to get the driver's side & boot floor done as quick as I can & resume next spring with the passenger side as I don't relish the though of spending the winter months in my open air workshop.

Hi Marcus they all came from JRW & are excellent quality though the "base unit side repair" is a tricky panel to work on with.

It looks as if i have a lot of work ahead of me if i have as many spot welds to drill out as you did. A zip-cutter i presume ? On the plus side for you though it looks as though you had an easier time of it than i will. Thats a handy bit of raised path you have there to ramp the car on, then get access to it from the lower pavement, must give you a lot more elbow space.

I swear when i win the lottery the first thing i will buy is a garage with hydraulic ramps. Never mind the Bugatti Veyrons and the worlds most expensive P6. A big workplace with ramps and room to wield a spanner would be heaven for me and my tools :)

I second that, with an humidity controlled store room for all the P6's I would rescue. :)
 
It's a pretty big job but it is a lot easier than I expected but what was tricky was balancing on that stone wall & wielding a drill doing the high up bits, I fell in that coal bunker a couple of times :shock: I drilled it all out using a cordless drill & an 8mm spotweld bit. I'll pop some more pics on when I get my next film done, I mustn't have taken any photos of it before I started :roll: but I'll get some of the N/S when the time comes

The great thing (or should that be bad thing) about having a garage is that you can do a bit, then leave it there for years untouched..... :(

LoL :p The classic car restorer's bumper stick should read...
"A car restorer strips then leaves for a few years until her indoors starts too moan..." :wink:
