yes it reads like i did it all in 1 day lol

well to be honest i had all the frames ready made up with glass and new seals but i did each side in 2 days
and the rear shoes i found so easy to do but the calipers and discs pipes etc were in great nick so i got off easy
that and diff mounts in a day
dose that class as cheating lol :D

Hi all well my stater decided to pack up so i hav nt been in rosie for sometime , new started on the way.
but ive decided that its time to move on and rosie and i will be parting company soon :( and i will miss seeing her in the garage , we ve had a very up and down 4 + years. but with my house move and work change i will not have the time for her anymore.
So thanks all for your help with my problems and i will keep looking on here now and again as i still have my white rover on the market.

Hi Marcus,

I am sorry to hear that Rosie will be going to a new home, but on the bright side I hope that her new owner will either already be a forum member, or we'll hopefully have a new member, so that we can all still keep tabs on her progress.

I am sure that I speak for all when I wish you all the very best in your future endeavours!

Ron.

Hi thanks for your reply but ive changed my mind and rosie is staying now. i cant part with her now lol.
enjoy xmas

Hi Marcus,

These are the words of a true P6 owner, Once you have delved into the workings of these Great cars you just can't let go that easy, I have had my 2200 TC since 1991 and my current garage project is a V8S I have had since 1995.
The 2200 TC must go this coming year I will be very sad to see her go.

Good news that Rosie is staying Marcus - especially considering the amount of work you have carried out :D .

hi all thanks for your messages been so busy but rosie is having all her ball joints and shocks replaced this winter, two new back doors and nsf wing . she all so has some et headrests now and is being fitted with the slim chrome side strips that were fitted to the usa spec.

I would recommend the original type ones over the replacement items which are thick and lightly pressed.

Colin

I have some that i got long time ago copies . i also have a nice few sets of originals taken off some broken engines that are in real good nick. so i may use them instead if there better as there like new. thanks for the tip
marcus :D

While getting rosie ready for mot i was checking for a clucking on nsf. Noticed oil coming out off steering idler. So replaced it today . Was over due loads of play in it. Quite an easy job. Next job is hand brake . Its way to high and looks a pain to adjust.
Will post pic of oil leaking idler .
Regards
Marc

:( Oh you poor innocent lamb... You have evidently yet to peer into the cavalcade of complexity that is the P6 rear brake caliper!

You'll be reet - just be aware that the handbrake cable isn't adjusted to set the handbrake. In most cases it means the 'clockwork' self adjuster mech in one or both of the callipers has given up the ghost and you need to move the handbrake lever (and hydraulic piston via the pedal) a lot further to get the pads into contact with the disc. Only solution is to remove them for an overhaul. It's like a Lewis Carroll nightmare in there... but you'll manage it!

Rear Caliper Overhaul Thread

ho not so good then, that will explain why the hand brake stopped working properly when I fitted new brake pads, good side is I have a new reconditioned set in my store. so I hope it goes well, I will keep at it. The bit I hate is bleeding the back brakes. i will keep you all posted. Thanks for the info. :D So that's this weekend sorted .
the only other problem im having is rosie is eating up washer motors. I fitted the old unit which burnt out, so I fitted a new one which burnt out and now im on my 2 nd old unit which is still ok for now. as anyone upgraded there washer motor and for what .
regards
marcus

The motors are getting old but I am surprised they burnt out unless the impellor got stuck. Maybe the sealing washer expanded. You can unscrew it and check.

I fitted a univeral 12v motor to a car. I mounted it a discretly as possible and it worked a treat.

Colin

I got a new washer motor from Rimmer's and it worked well for several weeks.

Will be looking at that over the weekend :?
