Well guys, I'm actually at home and have enjoyed some delicious home cooked meals for the first time in a month !

Glad to hear you're back at home Richard.

Hope the rest of your treatment goes well. Our thoughts are with you.

Take Care

Dave

Thanks everybody !

Bit more good news today, had a bone marrow test on monday, back for the results today, great news I have gone into remission, the treatment still continues the same, but this gives a really positive outlook for the overall result. Also they told me I have a certain gene which means I am in the group with the best overall chance :D

My blood levels have recovered really well, so I'm ready for the next round of chemo, I'm going back in on Tuesday, so fingers crossed !

Should be able to frequent the forum for a few days before the chemo really knocks me out.

Good work, Richard.
That's what I was told............ give chemo until it almost kills you

Then........wait for it..........wait for it ........... bring you back........ with the danger gone and *you* on the way to recovery.

Bin there.....done that ........ got the T-shirt

Hi guys, well here I am back in hospital, a bit later than expected, I came in yesterday but they are deciding which drugs to give me and hadn't made up their minds, so they sent me back home for another night. Back in this morning, still hadn't decided... so they sent me home again, but the rang me just after lunch to come back in, so here I am, and they've started the chemo again. Slightly shorter (8 days instead of 10) course this time, plus I'm in much better shape than I was last time, so hopefully I'll be back out in 3 weeks or so, fingers crossed, wood touched etc..

I'm in a small 4 bed ward at the moment, rather than my posh single room, but it's ok, main problem is that the mobile signals are really bad, so the mobile broadband is rubbish too, no skype just keeps dropping out, but I can get on the forum, although it's a bit slow. I've ordered a big antenna to boost the signal so we'll see if that works.

Seconds Out .... Round Two!

Good Luck Richard :D

....and remind Jo and the boys
I am only on the end of the phone if they need anything.

Richard,
Some treatment advances are made every day. It takes longer for the trials to proceed and approvals to be made. Your doctors are probably consulting on the very latest combination of (otherwise) lethal chemicals which will do the job and do the final "knock out" of what ails you. My chemical chap was that confident yesterday when I saw him. So,..... travel plans still on..... :D

Eric
PS. continued best wishes :D

The bugger is on Part Time Hospital!

Got a text today to say he was at home after having Chemo.

Went up to see Rick while Jo was out shopping ( Rick Sitting - bit like baby sitting....)

Seems he is OK as we chopped down something growing around the conservatory
and removed a couple of tree stumps that were knacking the wings on the cars.

Think he is staying in hospital tonight - he went back in for a top-up of chemicals this evening.

Yes, as I'm fit this time, I can go home middle of the day for the first couple of days, much better than sitting in a hospital bed !

Funny one with the chemo drugs last night the wife was "twiddling" her fingers round the drip line, as it was passing close by her, the nurse says "I wouldn't do that, if you get any on your skin it will burn" - and I'm thinking, hang on you're pumping this stuff INTO me !!, nasty nasty stuff, but that's what it takes.

Yep,....... "........ don't want to spill any on your skin....."

Toxic...... but it seems to work :)

"Keep on keeping on...." :D

Eric

I was told by a nurse that they work on the principle "whatever it is don't get it on you'.

Get well soon!!

Yes,..... IN you is good........ ON you ........... not so much.
Thumbs up to the chemists

Latest Update

Been to see our resident invalid tonight.

He is back on a four bed ward and complaining like hell
because he can not get a steady internet signal
even with Jodrell Bank linked in to the laptop!

Treatment wise tomorrow morning is the last infusion of chemicals
in the second run through of 3 or possibly 4.

I must say he actually looks a lot better than last time!
No elephant man legs or weird skin colours this time,
bit disappointing really....

Hopefully if all goes well tomorrow they might let him home for a few days
- if necessary we can ship him back if something goes wrong,
( or Jo gets sick of tripping up over him!)
it's only a couple of minutes to the hospital at high speed!

Thanks for keeping us posted, it's good to hear how he's getting on.
No elephant man legs or weird skin colours this time,
I suppose you could take a set of crayons round to visit and colour bits of him in while he's sleeping.
Oh, hello Richard didn't notice you there
All the best, stay strong.
Jon.
:D

Charming !

Yes, touch wood, a much better run this time, still got the sick bit to come, but I'm in much better condition than last time.

Now if only the bloody broadband would stay up !

Hi Richard, well I'm currently sat in hospital, recovering from my final course of chemo. It's been going really well however I picked up a bit of an infection yesterday so I'm back on the anti-biotic drip again.

Hopefully I should be back home again in a week or so, depending on how quickly my blood recovers, then the long term putting life back together begins. :D

Sounds good Richard

I'd better get the engine back in before you want your hoist back
