Can I ask why you've filled the holes for the side chrome strips ? Are you not replacing it ?

I've filled the holes where the side strips go as I'm not replacing them. I like the shape of the MKI version of the P6 so I thought I'd change my MKII slightly. I just think the car looks smoother and cleaner without them, plus the drilled holes are just water traps waiting for rust to appear.

The back of the sills were sanded off to remove the light rust, then they were coated with Underseal / Body Schutz. The under arches were pretty clean really with only a couple of areas that needed re coating with Underseal / Body Schutz.

Once dry, I painted (by hand) the under arch with a single pack paint used for wagon chassis (Chassis Black)

I thought it was shutz but looks hand painted in the sills? Thanks!

SNAP!!
Just seen the pic of the underside of your scuttle panel. My car used to be Cameron Green too before it was sprayed red. Your paint job looks far better than mine was though. What a lustre! Is that Richlieu red? Beautiful anyway!
I'd be made up with a paint job like that....... you don't fancy doing it for me do you? Only joking! Looking A1. Bet you can't wait to get out there and enjoy it again. :D

Michael

Thanks for the compliments Michael, my car was originally blue before everything was sprayed red, and I mean everything, locks, rubbers, plastic bungs, door switches, you name it, it had red paint on it. Yes, looking forward to getting it back on the road, ready for the summer. :D

Ahh, sorry it looked like green in the pic. Might be my screen!
Yes, that sounds like a similar standard of respray to mine. In places, the paint's thicker on the rubbers than it is on the panel! It still polishes up reasonably well, but it's going pink quicker than George Michael's roommate, and the lacquer's blistering away something awful on the roof. Time to plan what you're doing and get it done properly!

All finished, and running like a dream. Already done two car shows :D

Gaz, I just took a look through your photo album and was very impressed with all the work you did. The paint finish looks superb and it's great that you are now getting out and about in your P6 :D .

Very nice Gaz, I take it its parked safely off road at night due to the lack of reflectors or have you hidden them somewhere???

Nope, not hidden, I have got them as another forum member kindly donated a spare one that fits on the boot, just didn't get round to fitting them, then decided it looked nice without them. Never goes out in the dark anyway :)

Hahaha I know what you mean, but he has a stunning 1955 Austin A30 which he allows me to use whenever I want, plus he owns half of the car...lol
