My 1972 Rover 2000 SC restoration

I bought this car last summer with a friend of mine, we already have a classic car each and decided to buy a car we could share. The reason behind this was so that if it was a real nasty day, and we didn't want to get our good cars out, we could still attend a show even if the weather was poor.

We both agreed on the Rover 2000 SC because of it's classic lines but could keep up with modern day traffic. Anyway, our plan was to just run the car as we bought it, h'mm, plans never work out the way you intend, do they. So, here is a link to my progress (my mate just does mechanical) on a car that we were going to do nothing with, other than run it.

And when you've finished it, you won't want to take it out in the rain and mud and will buy another wet day car........ and so the circle begins

John.

Hi Rich, all I've used it a water washable paintstripper on all the panels. As long as you wash the panels down with either a damp cloth, or/and a suitable panel wipe (pre-clean) after, then you shouldn't ever have any problems. :D

Now your nearly finished your bit and looking good Gaz :D
The question is there anything lying in wait for your friend :?: hopefully just driving her if he can get a chance :)

Thanks Guy, no, nothing for him to do at all, he done his bit before I started. The car was running like a bag of hammers when we bought it. Tappets were all too tight, timing was out, and the carb needed adjusting and setting up. When it's all done, we just intend to enjoy it. :D

P.S. I might get him to remove the engine at the end of the summer so I can repaint the engine bay......lol :D :D

nice progress... the condition of the rear arch is very good compared to wat i found...

Nice work, i don't know what is a washable paintstripper the google translater can't translate for me, have you a picture from the tool? or maybe explain for me.
Good luck with the car.

I'm very pleased with the overall condition of the car. I have worked on cars that have only eight years old, that have been worse.

Hi Hans, the water washable paint stripper, is a chemical paint stripper bought in a tin. Water is used to wash away the remainder of chemical left on the panel or item you would be removing the old paint from. It is also used to remove old paint from wood. :D

It's coming on well Gaz! 8) .. I take it you'll be at Beamish again this year with a nice fresh paint job?

Will

Thanks Will, yes I'll be at Beamish some time this year, but I take my Bedford, so I'll not know until nearer the time. Another few weeks and I will hopefully have it finished. Hows your car getting on?

P.S. Don't forget, my garage is open whenever you fancy a cuppa (Fire is always on in this cold weather) :D

Alreet Gaz. Things have been going very slowly with my car lately but I've just posted an update as I've been refurbishing the wolfrace slotmags. I finished off what will hopefully be the last of the welding for a while, and need to get the new carpets fitted next. I'll try and get down and see you sometime within the next few weeks as I'll be after some advice on prepping and painting the bodywork :)

Will

Thanks, I've just uploaded a few more photos as I've been doing a bit more work tonight. I'm nearly ready to start the other side now. :D :D

Here's a small video I took on my phone tonight. The drivers side is all finished and ready (apart from flattening it down) for the correct colour once I've done the work on the other side. The front and rear lower panels have the correct colour on and will be masked out when I'm ready for painting. I'll hopefully have it all finished by start of March. :D
