He is no longer Mr Sexy on the photo album!
I've updated it,now 425 piccys,and changed the file name!
As for his name, have a vote on my other post in the lounge!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Bristol American and Classic car local show was a good day out for Ardy!
Much admired, everybodys dad/grandad used to have one!
Even a few well brought up kids aged about 7 said its much nicer than those big American cars daddy!
One lady who said she hates green cars, fell in love with it!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Dont know what happened to some of my pics?
They vanished??
Anyway, here are Ardy,Sid6,and The Boss, all polished up and posing on parade!

The next jobs on Ardy will be the addition of a full set of front ET and rear headrests,a full set of mudflaps, and hopefully a NOS set of door handles!
The headrests are currently with Clive Annable having a colour change, and I will be fitting the slots into the front seats next week.
The only other job to do will be the possible refitting of the overriders, but I still need to find a V good or NOS nsr!

Off to the Thornbury carnival on Sat 5th and The Bath Pagent on Sun 6th,and weather permitting Ardy will attend both!
If its wet and horrible,The Boss can have a couple of days out to show off,as he hasnt been to an event for a while, and doesnt mind the rain!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Now here's a useless bit of data.

Did you know that Ardie is the name of a pre-WW2 German motorcycle manufacturer?

Not many people know that, as Michael Caine is wont to say!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Thanks for that info!
I got the spelling variant wrong its Ardy! :)

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Another job that needs doing soon is the engine mounts!
The larger S2 type cannot be used as they make the engine too high!
So if anyone has a good s/h set or even a NOS set knocking about that are not wanted any more, please PM or E me!

ET and rear headrests are on the way back from Annables!
Front seats will be adapted ready for when they arrive.

Cheers.

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

The headrests arrived back from Annables today,as I was fitting the front seats with the headrest slots!
Perfect timing!

The front seat optional extra update means a little unfaded material will be showing on the top,but mostly hidden by the headrest, and I can work in some patina to make it less obvious!
The removal, fit assembly and refit back panel went well.

Casper approves of the finished refurb!

Just the drivers seat to do tomorrow,
and put the mudflaps from the white one on.
Got a TR6 in for a full service, tune and set it all up as it runs like a dog!
Also replacement rad and hoses!
That will pay for a new set of 185 tyres for PLK. :)

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

After looking about for a suitable alternative engine mount for Ardy, ive not found anything,or should I say, anyone willing to sell me just 2!
Ive bought a pair from Scotts old rubber for $64 (£35) inclusive of shipping!
Hopefully,,,X fingers, there wont be any import or other taxes to pay as the value is small!
Should arrive next week, and wont take long to fit!
Considering the UK P6 suppliers want £25 each + p/p for them, and they likely get them from Scotts anyway, thats a bargain!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Forgot to post a pic of the fitted headrests!
Just have to refit the adjuster buttons!
Got to do some better pics at the next show!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

The engine mounts arrived today from Scotts in OZ,so have fitted and sorted this afternoon!
No more rattly exhaust and tilting engine! 8)
I also had a little accident with the S1 last week!!
When reversing it out of the garage last week,I just caught the bumper of the TR6 I was servicing on both n/s doors leaving a light crease on both of them! :(
The TR6 was 6" further over on the drive than it should of been due to packing up quick due to rain!!
What a pillock!!
Didnt scratch the paint and I felt nothing until it went from door to door and I felt the shut line bump!
Metal is so solid on rovers doors that it cant be massaged out by Mr Dentmaster, also its quite low down near the double skin section,so couldnt get to it anyway!!
Thats £200 I didnt expect to pay out! :x
Both doors will be fixed in time for Blenheim, both very lightly filled then repainted, and done off the car!
Will partially strip them down and take them to him next monday morn,so should have them back weds lunchtime!
Well at least it was the door I put a very small hard to see 1cm scratch on when refitting the glass framwork back in!
Shit happens!!

Re: My 1968 S1 Rover V8P6B Three Thousand Five's just about done

Doors came back from repair on weds afternoon looking excellent! :D
I have now refitted, along with a set of Nos door handles I had located, and a set of refurbished rear and new front mudflaps have also been fitted! :)

Also managed to locate a set of the early style rear overmats,to match the front ones already in place!
Thanks to Gareth Jones for those! 8)
Scrubbed up great, and with a bit of armor all will almost look like new! :)
The small split in one of them can be fixed from behind, and will be near invisible! :)

Gobsmacked!! :D
Southern national rally at Blenheim Palace 2014!
A great day out,bit wet at times, but good company.

Kudos to you Dave !!
Lot of dedicated work recognised - well done
You can do mine when you come down
Gerald

Well its all but finished! :D 8)
Got the replacement clamp on mirror today,so now I have a pair of door mirrors fitted without drilling holes, :) that look like the original wingards!

I have managed to obtain a decent pair of Cibie fog/spotlamp grey covers, but am on the look out for some NOS ones!
Just got to track down an S1 V8 rev/tacho and fit it. :)
But Nick Dunning is hopefully gonna come through with finding that!
I may or may not refit the overriders, and I wont be refitting the front grille cold weather muff!
If a main front grille, bonnet V8 or 3500 heavy embossed badges come along that are better than whats on there now then I will get those!
Just clean, polish, visit shows, drive and enjoy it now. 8)
Now all I have to do is find myself another, "No idea what yet",project to do for this autumn/winter to keep me busy!

Cheers!! :)

Very nice Dave, nice to see her finished. Dosen't seem to have taken long and the improvement is outstanding. Hope you have lots of fun with it.

You thinking of sticking with Rover as in a new project? Every fancied doing an early 2000?
