Clutch travel on 2000

In that case, either the clutch isn't clearing enough to work, or the centre plate is stuck to the flywheel.

It has been around 3 years since I put everything back together & they think it is quite possible :? .

Indeed it was stuck! I've just freed it off with the back end on stands, starting it in gear (2nd) & depressing the clutch pedal several times.

That saved some work!

I've now fitted the correct gear lever gaiter for an early 2000; just look at the difference compared to a (dusty) later console:


And here's the gaiter for comparison:
