Hi all.
I have for a while been planning to rebuild my garage into a double!!
I have now formulated a 2 stage plan
Fortunately,I dont actually need to get planning permission, BUT!! due to planning rules,I have to abide by,I am going to build in block, not in wood like a big shed!
STAGE 1.
I will either extend,or totally rebuild the existing garage you see in the att photo.
Depending on the viability of the existing bit that forms the boundary wall, which I really would like to keep as is!
It will be 5.175m wide x 5.750m long. Leaving a 1m wide path down the side to the house!
The housing estate layout means that any visitors or emergency services have to approach from the rear service road, the front is pedestrian, and a long walk to the front door! so blocking the whole area off with a garage is not an option!
I have just secured locally, a very good 3yr old 4.4m automatic double roller door complete for £150.
Dark red same as the TR6!!
I am also having made, when I am ready for it,by a contact in the business a large 20ft long x 7ft drop roller blind/screen type affair in clear h/d plastic sheet, that will attach to the outer beam supports of the carport, and drop down to form a good wind and rain protector, removing the need for the heavy and cumbersome wind break I hastilly knocked up last year!
This will give me a really nice open working area with the garage door open, and the screen down!!
I am going to extend the existing galvanised roof for now.
Will only need to buy 2 more sheets to do that with!!
STAGE 2
Will be to make the ^ loft area later this year if/when funds allow!
I will have to store all the parts in the shed in the spare bedrooms for now,"not married "
Then junk the shed, dig out and lay an extra concrete slab 5.75x3m for the new floor area, take a bit of existing garden wall down.
I will have to either concrete or block pave the existing 6m x 3.5m drive area under the carport!!
Find a good local builder/brickie that can do the blockwork, and fit the door and window in the rear.
Possibly the slab base and also to do the flat roof if the price is right, but I can do that if needs be!
Now a BIG!! favour to ask??
Are there any Classic car/Rover/TR/Triumph owning builders frequenting this forum, local to me in the BS37 area of South Glos, that fancy a bit of " SHHH!!! " cash in hand, holiday or classic car resto money??
I am fully prepared to book a week off and get stuck in with you to speed things up! Or a couple of busy weekends!!
I have some experience of building, but that was in NZ!!! with help from family and Friends there!
This I feel is a bit much for me to take on all by myself, probably just me being cautious!!
I know there are possibly 1 or 2,but think it best I let them E or PMl me if they can assist in any way!
PHEW!! Thats worn my typing finger out !!
Time to relax.
