what do you guys think of badge bars, I like them but obviously if I put one on it will probably have repo badges, do they decorate the front or make it look tacky.

Its all down to personal taste!
I have one on my S2 and like it,but I wont be fitting one on my S1V8!
That applies to the badge bar and the boot mount!
Just fitted an RAC grille badge, and will fit one more badge on the same side when I get it!
No room on the other side due to the 3500 badge, and I dont want to obscure the big ROVER grille badge!

Hi,

I know it's all about personal taste but I agree with you Phil

The only thing worse than a badge bar on a P6 is...... a boot-mounted spare!

But each to their own 8)

I'm not a fan either, prefer the clean look :)

Better than the huge fog lamps Sparky came with though, eewwww

Even though my last P6 had a badge bar (it was on there when I bought it!) I am not a huge fan of them nor the 'badge-festooned' look... I like the clean/un-cluttered look.

However, whatever the owner chooses to do with their own car is entirely up to them. If there weren't any variations in 'look' I'm sure we'd get pretty bored pretty quickly!!!

Your car, you enjoy it how you see fit.

In the classics world, if you ask me for an opinion they are somewhat overdone all round because these days its a hobby, the car isn't transport. They weren't really all that common an accessory by the time the P6 came along being more 1950s and pre-war thing and they are somewhat of an anathema to clean, high-tech design principles of the P6.

Being such a dramatic statement in design and technology I generally think customizing the P6 more often than not will detract rather than enhance, it immediately catches the eyes and jars. This is the same as anything with a clear design ethos, like putting a hand-knitted cover on a Phillipe Starck juicer.

Whereas something like an escort of the time was nearly always modified in some way from fluffy dice upwards. They almost look "wrong" on standard, steel rims.

My car had a AA and RAC badges screwed to the grille when I got it, they didn't last 24 hours. I like the clean look, but I also don't understand why I'd bolt one breakdown company's corporate logo to my car, let alone two! How much am I expecting to break down? Should I also bolt a warning triangle on the rear bumper?

Still haven't been able to get all the marks off the grille, they must have been there for years.

I bought, and fitted, a badge bar, but I thought it looked a bit Old Fogey ish, so it's in the spares dept. (but if I get some plaid slippers for Christmas...... )

John.

So I think the answer is most think they look a bit OTT on a P6, its like most things on cars, they look good on other people's cars but never sure on your own.
