Another bonnet badge

Hi,
them badges were made by scott's old auto rubber, a customer ordered one for the car i was restoring for him, god it was ugly ! the badge that is, not the customers car.

Yep thats the one  They reminded me of a badge that would not look out of place in some of the later Rovers, needless to say I did not buy one, I vaguely recall the price to around NZ$125 or maybe 175, seemed somewhat excessive for something that did not look OEM.

Hi all,
an update for you all on the bonnet badge

1, they will have the rolled edge all polished like has been asked for

2, as said before the back plate is being nickel plated to keep rust at bay

3, price will be £65.00 boxed, plus £2.95 for signed / recorded delivery

4, if any of you want to now pre - order, please pm me. they will be ready hopefully around the 10th of may. a post dated cheque made out for the 7th may will be fine or paypal, which if you use personal and then pay friend or family should not cost either party i believe.

hi nick,
many thanks for the comments on the badge. matt richardson from the classic monthly mags has received his and is also delighted and is going to give it a review in the next classic car monthly, with also something else in the pipe line that is scarce in the p6 world.

hi hans,
i am glad it has arrived safely and more over that you are pleased with it. boot badge inserts should hopefully be here in the next two to three weeks.

I meant to post at the time but had log on issues - I got on e of the first of the new batch and it is amazingly good. Really finishes the car off and looks great on a black bonnet

hi all,
just a quick update for you all. if you are wanting a boot mount badge, they should be here at the end of the week. orders now being taken.

Hey Ian,

That's my bonnet badge arrived here in Melbourne today and you can safely add me as another delighted customer!

Bizarrely the package was marked as having been opened and investigated by Quarantine, no idea why a badge would have triggered them to the point of being opened for inspection but hey they had put it all back together again well so no harm done! :)

Thanks,

Al

Hi, do you think because of the size and weight they might have thought it was a tin of
foodstuff? Only 2 people knew it was a badge and neither were there!!

Possible I suppose but the fact it was a badge was written on the shipping label and from having watched many episodes of "Border Security" I believe they x-ray things before resorting to opening them which would have shown it not to have any organic material inside... :)

Can only think it was either a completely random check, or they maybe thought it might be a used badge in which case could potentially have road dirt/dead bugs splatted on it... Anyway, no harm done and it looks the absolute buisness.

Now i wonder when my bulk delivery of assorted soil, bugs, random meat and fish products, nuts and seeds will arrive - I hear those are allowed right through Quarantine with no probs. :)

Lol I watch the OZ border control program and you have to wonder at the random petty hittler approach some of these officers take and whats more before a camera too!! however some are quite good also the NZ program of the same seems to be somewhat less officious in there TV program approach but you still got to wonder.....at least they arnt as bad as those american motor patrol officers.... the land of the free and all that, what a joke.

hi al,
glad it arrived ok and many thanks for the nice comments on it. maybe he is a rover owner and he opened it up just to look at it, before he orders one !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ian,

Are there any copyright or IP issues associated with the reproduction of this badge; or is it the case they are so long out of production they are void?

Regards,

Quentin
