A possibly met car eh? I've just checked the Registration Archive and YNJ 392J was first registered in East Sussex. Not far from London. With 'JJ' being the last of the Series One Rover P6's I seem to recall some of them had series 2 bits shoved on them to make them more saleable/modern not that that explains the 3500 on the instruments. However those that didn't sell may well have been offered to the Police. After all they didn't mind what front they had.
