Turn the radio up.
Don't think the side rod is the cause of the noise but does no harm to change it because of the slight movement. May just have to live with it.
I bought AVO units for mine and yes they had a steel insert and yes it fitted over the pin, I believe GAZ use the same mount. I tried everything to try to stop them rattling and failed.
I cut off the mounts and welded on the original mounts from the old shocks and bought fresh conical rubbers and the rattles stopped.
If that's the case you're never going to be able to stop them rattling. P*ss poor design for that particular application
.
. Poor show really on the supplier end, but it seems that's how it is with a lot of things, and its not the case of buying cheap either, even 'high' end costly stuff simply isn't made right.
I have a metallic rattle in my hip when I walk. It stops when I jump up and down, or walk round in circles. Whats going on?
wrong foot in the other shoe...
getting back to the noise problem, how can a shock absorber be fitted in the wrong hole, I can only see one hole on my suspension ?
Ahhh now I understand, thanks for the reply...The pin the shock absorber is mounted on has two holes in it, the one nearest the base unit is for the retaining pin to go in, the one nearest the end is for the installing tool that compresses the rubber bush to go in.
