I just can't keep away from these P6s!!!!! Can anyone tell me where to obtain the door /glass seals, what I call Glass Scrapers, and, the work that is involved in fitting them, PLEASE tell me that they can be done without ripping the whole door apart!!! Best Regards.
PS. Is there any thing that can be used to kill the damp smell that I know , will still linger in the car, after I have cured the ingress of water, and dried it out?
Julian.

THese are hard to find. You need the orignals as aftermarket ones are so poor you might as well burn your money or donate £40 to the Taliban. I just give £80 for mine and that was cheap I felt. Wadhams rubbers are the best about. EBay also. I have seen them made to original on ebay from USA, supposed to be pretty good (do a US search). If yours are OK and tolerable, i'd keep them over rubbish aftermarket stuff. I have a set I took off in good order, but loathed to sell them, unless you are REALLY stuck.

I'm afraid I have to disagree and say that the after market seals I used on my Series 1 work well if you take care fitting them.
You have to cut them to length and shape but thats not difficult.

Its depends where you get them. I bought a set mail order that were literally strips of rubber .... no stiffeners, no bolt holes nothing. In my opinion a complete waste of time. I would prefer original rubbers, that fit, do not have to be cut, do the job properly and mean I can get on with other jobs.

There is a lot of aftermarket stuff out there that is tolerable and there is a lot of complete rubbish. Window rubbers 2/3 of the thickness of the original and not shaped, so flare out on the bends, allowing water to gather and look so ugly. Wing and quarter seals that have to be mitred, sill bungs that almost fall out, bootlid rubbers that unless you put Hatty Jakes on the bootlid for a month in 100 degree heat will never compress!! And you pay all the money for this. Wadhams stuff is reasonable, other suppliers are just sh*t and frankly makes me angry as you are just being taken for a mug.

Out of interest where did you get your rubbers from?

I've PMd you and Emailed you regarding the seals, have you not recieved my messages? It's still raining
Julian.

Twin Plenum,

I bought them just as you describe, in strips and no stiffeners from a chap I know pops up on here but for the life of me cant remember his name but is near Doncaster. I used the old one as a pattern and used punches to trim and make the holes and just took my time with them and they do exactly what they are supposed to do.

It doesn't look as though you are getting my PM, I wonder why, I expect I'm doing something wrong, all I want to know is will you be sellling the seals that you took off, the ones you say are in good condition, because I would prefer to use genuine parts, that's if I have a choice.
Julian.

They will be off saturday. They are as good as gold, having bought a new set as a precacution without inspecting them. I am not keen to sell them as I will no doubt get another one come in with a knackered set, then have to hunt high and low again. As I say I give £80 for a new set, whixh i felt was cheap. A good second hand set has got to be worth half that. As I say I am would rather hang on to them unless you are super desperate.

I used JRW's which have no stiffener but are relatively easy to fit, look fine & do the job well.
I went on line to JRW's yesterday, and could not find them listed :(
Julian.

They're on there. Scroll down the category list to the 'Rubbers' section. They're a fiver each or he has the stiffened ones for £20 (RH only by the looks). Plus VAT & postage of course.

I phoned JRW and asked them if they came with the holes already in i.e. pre cut to fit, and they tell me that they are NOT.

They are just a rubber profile.

Shame really, because I would have bought a set
