To those who've managed to get Vitesse wheels and 205 tyres onto the back of their P6 without having to skim the back of the wheels; well done, you were very lucky! Observation confirms there is a variation in offset between different batches of wheels. Personal pain also confirms that there is a variation in tolerence in the base unit build in the critical area. Lucky won't take them on the offside rear even after they've been skimmed! The outside of the tyre just grazes the D post onder cornering...GRRRRR. So my next task is to see if I can jack that area of the D post out sufficiently or whether I'm going to have to cut metal and reinstall. It would be nice to think that Lucky has had a repair in that area in the past, but my strong suspicion is that the factory didn't regard this area as a critical tolerence with 185 tyres.....
