Well another update to this car.
I purchased this lovely Arden green 2000 from Geoff, as he was selling off a number of classics that he owns to buy bigger business premises. Since September of last year the car has had the following work;
a) Engine rebuild, including bearings, piston rings, top /bottom chain and tensioners, side plates, seals and gaskets
b) Baseunit steam cleaned, small amount of welding on the boot, undersealing
c) Good second hand bonnet and four panels and a full respray. The smallest details were seen to and rubbers replaced
d) Car was missing some parts including, the rad, grill, bumper irons and bumper, all replaced
e) Fuel system flushed
f) New brake master cylinder, rear brake hoses and pads all round
g) Stainless steel exhaust fitted
I bought the car last weekend and although it drove ok on the test drive, the front brakes began to seize so I had it trailered back.
This week I have begun and almost finished (are they ever finished?) this project.
Having made several trips to WINS, I have fitted new front brake callipers, front brake hoses, pads and a recon brake servo.
I have removed the ball joint covers to check the condition of the grease and sprayed some extra in, before refitting the gaiters.
The cooling system was flushed, as it had red antifreeze in - now has blue!
The gearbox oil has been changed and the final drive checked.
The slack has been removed from the steering box and a 1/4 of a litre of EP80/90 added
Having checked extensively under the car - It has had a full suspension rebuild at some point, the bushes, springs, shocks and de dion are still like new at the rear. The baseunit is in excellent order and original, inner sills and under the rear seats are mint. A little welding to the boot floor.
I revisited the original ebay ad again, I would guess by the condition of the car, that it was someones cherished P6 that was involved in a light accident and parked up in a dry garage for 20 years.
