V8 spark plugs

The leads are a carbon core surrounded by a copper wire mesh, so they are still a suppression lead but will handle much higher current, giving a lower resistance and don't burn out like ordinary carbon leads. Same mob sell pertronics ignition modules. Another side advantage is my leads have number tags on them so you can see which lead belongs to which plug at the cap end.

The V8 is sensitive to the position of its ignition leads. Check they're properly clipped into the holders and none are touching so it can't cross fire.

regarding the holders, mine are broken and only one is serviceable , any idea where they can be obtained from?
all the cables are bunched together with cable ties! o_O

Can be intermittent, try getting someone to rev the engine as this puts it under more load.
I remember my dad's 3500 running poor /misfiring when it was only about 3 years old and it was the leads.
You will still need to check the basics like cap/ rotor ( if you have fitted new as the are some cheap/ crappie ones out there).
and the plugs as-well , I only use NGK BP5HS if short reach fitted.
Clive.

I have the same plugs , but have been told by others that I need a "hotter plug" any idea which is the next hotter plug or 2 in the range?
Peter
have just looked them up on the ngk website Part Finder : NGK Spark Plugs Australia | Iridium Spark Plugs | Glow Plugs | Oxygen Sensors | Ignition Leads | Ignition Coils and BP6HS are recommended, one stage hotter???
if you want IRIDIUM type? then its BPR6HIX.

It may be different in your part of the world what with fuel etc but I've been using NGK BP5HS on various p6s here for 30+ years with no problems.

puled a plug or two today and they look fine, no burning and not sooty, in fact hey look almost new condition so I have a set of the same plugs for replacement. but no point if considered to cold and hotter ones
needed , as per advice in car club , here in ozz, regarding crap fuel.
have to think about the next move...

Bunched together with cable ties is no good. The come up on google if you do a search for plug lead separator. They don't have to be proper rover ones, ones that just clip to the leads and not the rocker covers will be fine. If you fit updated magnacore leads they won't fit in the standard holders anyway.

Hi Tom,

Sorry, that is incorrect. If you buy the 70 series, they fit perfectly. I should know, I have been using Magnecor leads since circa 1987. The 80 series or above however will not however, so I am assuming that you have only seen those ones.
