V8 P6 Fuel Economy

I like the idea of the Weber conversion. Ive heard of it done before, and heard they are an improvements, especially on the maintanance and ease of keeping tune etc. Was it a big job to convert it. Which carb is it and what would I need if I were to do this too, was it part of a kit etc

The conversion was suprisingly simple only a few wrinkles in the process such as needing a P5B thermostat outlet to mate up to the edelbrock inlet manifold also small amount of work to fit the choke warning light switch on the manifold. I sourced my parts from the States at a very cheap price, you really only need the carb, inlet manifold, gasket set, aircleaner, apropriate jets and rods (which RPi now show on there site) I would also recommend a heat spacer gasket.

Fitting the carb was the one best thing I ever did on my car and transformed it from a car that could be beaten by a mini to a car that matches my modern day cars for power and performance, it really is that good!

Once the conversion is finished they don't go out of tune at all. BUT getting then to that stage can be fraught. You need to be very picky about heat insulating them from the manifold - they can suffer from fuel vaporisation when standing otherwise, and they generally come with a "generic" set of jets and air bleed chokes. You'd then really need to get it rolling roaded by someone who understood the carb to get it jetted spot on for your car. Quattro should be able to expand on this too......

yes furthur to what Chris has said the carb comes with a standard set of jets and rods which you should not use, I emailed RPi at the time and they supplied me the jet and rod info for a standard p6B which I duly purchased and fitted and they proved to be correct however you can fine tune the carbs by playing around with various size combinations whether using a dyno or colour tune or gas analyser.
I can provide you with the part numbers for them as I still have all the relavent paper work.

The Weber sounds the way to go. I think I may have found my winter project :D good job the missus doesnt go on this site, you lot would be in loads of trouble for leading me astray like this and spending my money!

Where did you get your stuff from then? Ive bought stuff from the states before, used Summitt racing who were always good on service and price but would be tempted to buy the job lot from where you went if it worked for you. Also, might be showing how thick I am here but who are RPi? you got the jets from them?

This site is so good at spending money for me, being a bloke I thought I had that skill sorted, but clearly you can never be too good at anything :D
