V8 Exhaust Gasket

Hi there, can anyone tell me if there is an exhaust gasket or sealing ring fitted to the downpipe to manifold joint on an early series 2 V8 ? (single downpipe each side) or is the seal formed as part of the downpipe? One side is leaking and I'd rather get the parts before starting the job.

Regards
Rob

A tip I picked up somewhere is to give the pipes a lick of grease when assembling them. The grease will carbon up under the heat and give a quicker/better seal.
Haven't tried it yet myself, but no reason it shouldn't work.

No sealing rings or gaskets fitted, it relies on a good fit to seal.

All three of my V8s had sealing rings

Am I missing something here

My 1974 P6B (series D) has olives fitted between the manifolds and downpipes, where as a friend's P6B, also a 1974 edition although a later series E has no olives in this location.

From the factory the olives were welded into the tops of the downpipes, so I can only assume that any cars with seperate olives or sealing rings have been fitted with pattern systems that have been made with them.
