Took sill covers off today

P6-SI

Its been a really nice day today so i thought i would take off my sill covers for the first time since i purchased her. I have been putting this off for some time as the two previous p6's i purchased in the past had to have welding done to the jacking points. The covers looked a bit crusty so i whipped them off today and i will now rub them down and give them a nice coat of satin black.

Attached are some pictures of what lay beneath and i must say i am very pleased with what i found and that i managed to buy a very solid old girl. I have found some light areas of rust but i can sort that out no problem. I have Purchased both side plates and new bolts now so just need some help from me dad and we will get that sorted. Only other problem i have is she jumps out of reverse sometimes, all forward gears are fine? :)

Cheers Gareth, Yeah the gearbox is fine if you hold it in. Sometimes it stays in gear so i will put up with it for now. worse case is to replace it i spose, havent priced one up yet thou.

i remember when my dad convert my v8 from an auto to the 4 speed box and that use to do it thats y i got the 5 speed now lol yea i just put up with it on my 2200 as you said it would not do it all the time just now and then

Thanks Guys. Rubbed down the sills yesterday and popped out a few dents, so all being well I should be able to get some paint on them over the weekend :D

So that's what the sill were meant to look like from the factory then! Get them cleaned up and painted on the outside and waxoyled inside and it should last you well.
