Uh oh! Warren in New Zealand will be waking up soon and a thread on Tobacco Leaf will surely make his day...
My car appears to have been repainted at some point in it's life - at the very edges of the roof there is evidence of a the newer paint job, with the original colour seemingly a lighter shade of Tobacco Leaf.
I recently went to my local paint store and just ordered a pint of Tobacco Leaf - I didn't have the paint code but I had been to the Sherwin Williams Automotive Paint Store and they had it in their database. I didn't buy from SW as I wanted a few different colours and for some nonsensical reason they couldn't mix all the colours for sale in California. I ended up going to a different store and giving them the list of SW's colours which they happily mixed up for me :? I had a choice between single stage and base coat/clear coat - I chose base/clear as it's a little more forgiving.
I spent this last weekend, prepping, priming, filling, base coating, clear coating and colour sanding a spare front wing - I want to see how I like the colour over the next few weeks/months.
I needed tea and moonshine to see me through the colour sanding.
The end result is definitely a different shade to the rest of the car.
