TAX EXEMPTION?

From 1st April 2015,any vehicle built in or before 1974 is tax exempt.
And then every year it goes up a year.
You still have to apply to tax your car,it just means you dont pay for it.
And also, any vehicle built before 1960 is exempt from having to get an MOT,which in my opinion is stupid,as it relies on the cars owner knowing what roadworthy means.

Thanks Pilkie, what do you mean by; and then every year it goes up a year?...

Is that picture your white P6?

From 1st April 2018, any vehicle built in or before 1977 is tax exempt.
and so ad infinitum, or until Labour gets back in :?

HI, as far as I'm aware it isn't an automatic rolling exemption, having said that it was recently
announced that it would go forward another year again next year.

Colin

Hi Colin,
It is a rolling exemption, not automatic in that you must apply for it when the vehicle reaches 40 years old.

Jim.

Hi, I meant that it doesn't roll forward automatically each year until stopped, it has
to be declared each year by the government. Sorry if I've confused.

Colin

Thats true,so any gov't can decide not to impliment it annually.
Until it is written into being a permanent annual extension its not safe.
Yes that is my white P6,it has been my everyday driver car since 1999/2000.
