stolen

hi all just by chance has anyone spotted my white 3500 p6 reg EWF 822l as the car was outside my home council evicted us ? as they wanted over life long tenancy back when the to house to cheque it and that have emptied house and car gone think that are out of order as all the spear parts for the rover and my Capri have all gone so if anyone sees car please let me know thanks all

The police or council have the power to remove cars. Suggest you get in touch with them to start with!

as well as checking with police check with council as they may have been asked to tow/remove everything. so may be in storage hopefully. with current rates of thefts of cars and spares .. not going to help with insurance for classics. I assume you did have car insured ? parts held indoors would come under house insurance too. I am thinking of getting marking (micro-beads) anti theft for my car and bits on it .( it case it gets broken for spares) there was an article in one of the classic car publications regarding thefts and how to stop sales of parts online such as e bay. after all anybody can offer parts for sale with no checks on ownership!
hope your parts don't go this way. think there was a suggestion that all clubs members ( for that marque etc) register any parts with club before selling .. so a trackable record can start. thus marked parts later found stolen can be traced back hopefully. if ALL historic cars had marking both UV . etched? micro-beads.dyes etc and stickers on cars saying so.. we may start to reduce thieves selling off our cherished and valued bits and pieces ( or even whole cars)
it is also suspected vehicles are being shipped out in containers with false shipping logs . good luck. do repost if you have luck ..or not.

View reported it to police that done all cheques with no joy its not just my rover with it has gone all my new referred bits for my Capri witch view spent so much time finding is LSD big brake kit wheels all the paint to paint it all my tools mig 2 compressors the list is endless even all stuff in house and we ant given tenancy up or anything all owewer memories? and to top it cart find a serlicitor to helped us ?? we are both so p***ed to say it politley?? thank you all I recon its gone and yes car is all bereft up but the money wont bring back or replace any of the thousands that has gone from the home as for the house insurance I had 3 German shepherds so did ant think it was needed? thanks again all will let you know what footman jams will do?

well worth keeping a look on ebay and gumtree for the parts withing a 5 miles radius of where they were stolen from.

Council wouldn't have cleared your place out without warning in some form. it would have taken some time to empty it, people must have seen something.

If you were evicted by the council, you would have received notice of that, which would have included an order to remove all belongings from the house and property within a certain number of days. After that, the council has the right to empty the property.

I hate to say it, but there is a pretty good chance that they had someone tow the car to the local scrap merchant.

If you have been evicted by the council they have the right to remove all your posessions, but they don't have the right to sell or destroy them immediately, they have to put them in storage and give you time to collect them. If there was a debt associated with the property that would have to be settled first, otherwise your goods will be sold to cover the debt. Otherwise you will have a certain time to collect them before they are disposed of, and there should be a notification left on the property giving details of how you would go about that.

Alas theft of exotic cars and motor cycles over here is apparently rampant. Customs checks Everything cumming into the country, but nothing other than statutory inventory checks Going out.
The theft of Harley Davidson motorcycles goes on unabated, Indonesia, the Middle east and Russia are prime targets.
If all your parts and car are gone, looks like professional thieves and a container load at that!
I hope that you have some joy in recovery chriss_V8....
Peter
Ohh- by the way -- where are you in the world chriss_V8, I assumed England but I may be wrong?

I don't think anyone is having a dig at you Chris - everyone here is sympathetic to your loss.

Your facts are a little hard to make out - I think people are just trying to figure out what might have happened so that they can make reasonable suggestions as to where you should begin your search. People are saying that IF you were evicted the council would need to take certain steps before removing or destroying your stuff.

I am sure that we all wish you the best of luck and hope that this works out for the best for you.

You're right in saying that we don't know the full facts; however, you did comment about what had happened, so people are bound to comment in return.

As for the car; the council have probably moved/disposed of it. Write a formal letter to the council, requesting information on where the car was moved to. Also, contact the local scrap yards, as they may have it, and contact the DVLA to ask them to inform you if any change of address comes in for the car. As you're no longer at the registered address, you won't necessarily be notified if someone does request a new V5.
