Wanted - rubber shift boot for '72 3500S. I'm new to Rover's and do not know if the SDI used a different shift boot? The reason I add that is my car has an SDI 5 speed trans, so not sure if the size is different. Appreciate any leads of info.
J R Wadhams sell one, I am using one on my auto console - I converted to SD1 5 speed and the gaiter fits right on the console in place of the auto selector plate.
Item P6RUBGAIT4
Check out some of the scrappies up your way - there is one that has had a few SD1s through there. They have an SD1 up on the wall as a display but won't let you get anything from it
This is from the place in Sun Valley I think - its the u pick parts that has the double decker and train in it - if that gives you any clue. It's from a couple of years ago, but the white one has been on the wall as long as I can remember - off limits though.
I am sure that Jag is long gone by now Gerald. I was keeping an eye out for the XJs for a while as I wanted the rear diff - me and my mate found one that had just came in and went to look at it. I opted not to drop the diff in the junk yard and I am glad I didn't - I eventually found one on craigslist and those things weigh a flippin ton.
Most of the cars are on short little welded post thingys - the SD1 and Jag you can see are on a couple of wheels that have been welded up to make a stand.
Gary - it's unlikely that SD1 is still in the yard. The white one is probably up on the wall/bus but is off limits - I tried to buy the wheels a few years ago but my offer was no bueno.
Still, it's worth a look as you never know what you might find lurking in there.
I think I'll still make it over there, haven't been to a 'pick-ur-part in 20 years, should be fun. Breaker yards were many back in the day, all of No. hollywood on Sherman Way and on ito sylmar & sun valley. Now I guess there are just a few.
Yep - always worth a mooch around as you never know what you might find - plus it's not a million miles from you. There's still quite a few places up around Sun Valley - don't know if it was the same when you were last there though - now most of them have the standard $2 admission fee and there's a "premium yard" which has another fee... I've never found anything worthwhile in the premium section, but ya never know and it's cheap entertainment.
