Roof vinyl considerations

I'm at the speculation stage of a project, to install vinyl on the roof of my Rover 2200. I'd probably get a professional to do this, as whilst I could do myself, if I saw a flaw I'd see it every time. I did a Ford many years ago, and whilst presentable, I was never totally happy with my work, plus it was a right faff!S? Some questions though, as if too big a job it could get expensive!
1. Can this be done without roof removal?
2. If roof removal is required, do front and rear screens have to come out?
3. If removal not required, then chrome/stainless trim would need to be removed I presume. Is this straightforward, with fixings in inside, accessible without too much disturbance to headlining. A bit is okay if course!
Thanks for any and all advice.......it's a direct result of seeing a Mexico brown with tan roof on these pages that first made me consider this!
Best regards
Mick

I dont know what your summers are like from where you live , but us guys in the antipodes shy away from dark roof colours for obvious reasons.
Just sayin.

Cheers for the answers, and for the link. Off to look at now . And to answer your question, I'm in Scotland. So summers are rarely above 20C, and often below with rain :). I'd only benefit from the heat!
