It all puts auto problems which are always do-able, into their proper perspective. A hobby, nothing more. The human machine has to be in good shape to maintain our mechanical creations which are useful & entertaining but in the long run, entirely unimportant, a mere indulgence. Medically speaking, we live in the best of times with huge advances being made all the time & in the UK & despite it's many faults (mostly down to sheer size & bureaucracy), a health service free at the point of use & mostly capable of delivering a first class service, whatever the severity of condition.
Continued hopes for a successful recovery Richard & all the best to you & your family.

Having only just finished funding a series of life threatening operations for my better half in our Thai home, I echo those sentiments! Their helth service is nominally free, too. But you pay for all the hospital's costs and it turns out only the doctoring is free.

Our outcome has been 100% successful. I expect you to strive to keep this run of success going, Richard!

Love from Bristol and Nong Ri to you and your family.

Chris

Wishing you much strength and all the very best for a full recovery, with sheepish apologies for my not having noticed and contributed to this thread sooner. You can't keep a good man down.

My Dear Boy Richard,

So sorry to hear of your ill health, hope you remember me, still motoring in my dotage!

Still driving a roadster, but sadly not a Rover!

Please recover soon, your family needs you more than the website or ROC does.

Regards, Auntie Madge

Dear Richard; I'm sure all of my fellow enthusiasts in the U.S.A. would join me in wishing you a full and speedy recovery..... Steve Van Derveer

UPDATE

Not too much to add at present.

Blood counts for Richard appear to be improving as a result of the chemo.

The main problem is the risk of infection and Richard has caught something else now
that the doctors are currently trying to get under control.

It was hoped that it may be possible for Richard to come home for a few days
during this latest round of treatment but that now looks increasingly unlikely
for at least the next couple of weeks.

Sorry I can not add anything more positive at this point,
but thought you all would appreciate some form of update.

Jo is continuing to visit daily as are close family members.
At present it is not possible for anyone else to visit.

When I next speak to Jo I will ask about cards etc.

Again please keep Rick, Jo and the boys in your thoughts

I will update this thread as necessary and continue to be
in phone contact with Chris York should I be unable to do so.

Pete K.

Thanks Pete - do pass on our best wishes and remind him that the T series P6 isn't going to build itself :) We want him back and on form!

Thanks for the update. Really missing Richard on the forum and hoping he's back home soon.

Just a quick post from Pete Knowles and myself to let you know that Rick has been having a few problems over the last day or so. We are both closely in touch with events and will let you know more in the next day or so.

Chris

I have to say be strong Rick we miss you on here, hope you can pull in all our best wishes and strengths to aid a full recovery. Thinking of you always

Keep fighting and stay strong Rick.

We're all thinking of you and sending positive vibes.

Cheers for that Chris
Now back online although at the wrong end of the UK (Wiltshire/Hampshire)
I am travelling back to Yorkshire today.

I am in fairly constant contact with Jo (Rick's Wife) and other family members.

Rick took a bad turn a couple of days ago and is Jo's words is now 'Mostly Delirious'
although he does not seem to be in pain.

At the moment Rick is having assisted breathing through Oxygen enrichment.

Hopefully I may be allowed to visit him either tonight or tomorrow
when I arrive back home in Yorkshire.

I will continue toupdate this thread as necessary either personally or through Chris York.

Rick WILL get through this - he just needs time and a little luck

Keep sending your good healing thoughts in his direction please.

09.42 UK time

As I was writing the last post I got a text from Jo.

I have been asked to get back to Yorkshire and if I wish go see Rick

PLEASE keep sending those healing thoughts his way

Be sure to tell him we're all willing him on even if he isn't 'with it'

Thanks for keeping us up to date. I'm sure its anything but easy.

Rich.
