RICHARD TAYLOR - Our Webmaster & Benefactor

Richard,
Your news sounds good.
I may have issues after returning from our trip to Great Britain but my chemical guy is confident. I look forward to word of your own progress as it is positive news and a good sign ... grist for the mill,.... etc.

Best wishes from a fellow traveller in Canada.

Eric

Great News, I'm home again and finished my treatment !

They sent me home with my blood counts a little short of the normal range, so I've been laying low for a couple of days while they recover a bit more, been back today for a blood test and they're now just about in the normal range, so I'm safe.

Got to go back next week for another blood test, once upto a more healthy level they will remove my Hickman Line (semi-permanent IV line tapped into a vein near my neck), and finally they'll do another bone marrow test (ouch) to make sure I'm still in remission.

Not entirely sure of the procedure after that, I did ask the doctor how long they would monitor me, and he said "forever", so I guess I'll be back for regular blood tests to make sure it behaves itself, and they can act quickly if anything happens.

They recon it takes about 12months to get close to normal levels of fitness / immunity, so a bit of a long road, but I feel pretty positive now and of course I'll get carried away far too soon. :D At the moment, by the time I get to the garage I need a sit down, so maybe it'll take more than a couple of days

Take that as good news, Richard. There are folk walking around who don't know that they have a developing problem. When you're on the "monitoring list" you get to go to the head of the line! :D

Best wishes,
Eric

Many thanks for the kind thoughts !

Indeed, I do need a chair in the garage, I've got a T16 head that needs re-assembly, I managed to get the head and all the valves cleaned up and lapped before I was diagnosed, so it's a nice easy job, except that my youngest son decided to use the bench grinder a few weeks back and the vibrations from the grinder knocked all the valves over and mixed them all up  So I need to re-lap them all just to be sure.
