I think I will leave it to whoever I get to recover it. that way I can drive it about with out worrying about it if I break it. least if they break it it will not be being moved till its fixed.

There is only 1 person, imho who can sort it for you and he is not far away either!
His name is Peter Harvey on 01304 614412 over in Sandwich!
He's been doing it over 40 yrs,and used to fit this type of sunroof to P6's when they were new!
For now I would leave it alone and get the car up and running and road legal, then pay him a visit so he can have a looksee to assess it!

I sent him just the top covered section with its end caps and he recovered it in the last bit of original huntsman brown he had for £200 inc return p/p.

ok apologies for revitalising an old thread. went to a trimming place to get a quote today.... said I need a new front bar and liner and roof. we also discovered that the windshield bit that drops down to allow u to open the room is broken. is there anywhere I can get the bits to compare prices
many thanks

OLD Thread!!
Its still very much alive till you finish fixing the problem!
Did you go to Peter Harvey?
Dont think you can buy the parts off the shelf new,so you need to find good used, but its hard even finding a good complete roof, let alone good used parts!
Wind deflectors pop up on ebay occasionally, but you need to find out the dimensions from the seller,as the size varies between cars that style were fitted to!
The length, width and gap between hinges!

peter Harvey wanted even more :(( I will try him again though b4 I go ahead if I do. To be honest im thinking as it doesn't leak at the moment I might leave it till next year when I can save my pennies some more as im paying out a grand for a quick respray and panel alignment etc next month.

many thanks

If he has the parts to do the job,it will be a darn sight easier than you trying to find the parts, inspect them first, then buying them,p/p and the other trimmer doing it!
Peter was fitting these roofs to P6's when they were new,and actually was the person who originally fitted my P6's roof back in 1973/4!
Its not a cheap job if any of the mechanisms or hardware are in need of repair, replacement!
You really need to know what you are doing, and imho he does!!

Make sure the panels are aligned before the respray is done, and to do a proper job,the panels, all 16 of them need to be painted off the car!
If the door gaps are good, whatever you do dont take the hinge assembly off the doors or body, just unscrew the lower hinge threaded bit till its free, not right out,and lift the door off!

the place at lewis said they could get new bits *shrug* and had the correct material to match the rest. I was just trying to source bits cheaper as they were charging around 175 for the front bar. im just a cheapskate at heart lol. I have called around lots of classic car garages including the guy that set up the classic car scheme for cars over 1960 all said they send it off to a guy in lewis so I am assuming its this one. to be honest I will try peter again and hopefully if I say to him look I can get it done for x he will either match it or beat it. the killer is always the vat not many people are happy with brown envelope deals anymore

many thanks

Sorry for asking in this topic but there are some photos which are helpful for a better understanding!

I do need exactly this part behind the roof handle which ios fixed with two screws into the roof. Is there anybody who would sell me this part, or may I have the measures resp. a detailed plan/pictures to reproduce it?

Thanks in advance!
