Rear Windscreen help for a newbie!

Hi, I am new the forum and to rebuilding cars! :) An I was hoping someone could help me, now that I have plucked up enough courage to post on here :)

I have a 1970ish Series 1 3500 V8 that I am trying to put back together. I have most of the body panels for my car now, and I thought it would be a good idea, before the really bad weather sets in to put the windscreens back in the car. (I think they have been in the boot of the car since 1982, which is when I was born!!)

Now I have been looking on the internet for some help on getting the screens back in, but so far I have not found anything that will help me. I have the Haynes manual, but that isn't really helping me that much :(
What I need is some pictures of the brackets (I don't know what the proper name for them is) that hold the screens into place, as I cannot seem to get my head round them. An to make life harder, the middle bracket I have for the car is completely different looking to the one in Haynes manual.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to a website or even post some pictures of what theirs looks like that would be lovely!

Thanking you very much for any help you can give

Hi

You'll need to get to know Ian Wilson at Rover Classics, so it's just as well to start now by a having a look at his website! He has published the parts manual - by far the most usefull book you can buy on the P6, way ahead of the workshop manual! - on his wesite. The specific page you are looking for is http://www.rover-classics.co.uk/ima...k/gallery/pages/Backlight & Mouldings_jpg.htm. Best to use new rubbers - Ian should have them, otherwise go to Scott's Old Auto Rubber in Australia http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/. Scott's main rubber's are moulded with the corners properly formed - there are some others out there which are not and Scott's work much, much better. Note there are actually two rubbers - the one you can see from outside the car and also the one against the shell which is much simpler. Alan at Classeparts in Leighton Buzzard (01525 382953) will sell you new clamp channels (usually very rusty and or deformed) in stainless steel if needed.

Hehe, I know him already, I went there to pick up some brackets about 4months ago and ended spending about £600. (He looked a happier man when I was leaving :p)
I hadn't thought to ask him about the windscreen even though I stood their and watched him take it apart off a California P6. The middle bracket don't look like those picture though :( I will have to go see him about it.

This car WILL be semi water proof before christmas!! ( not saying fully water proof cause knowning me, it will leak somewere :p

Also mean when trying to clean off the old carpet, I will get drunk on thinners even quicker..... I can discide if thats a good thing or a bad one! :D
