Rear Bump Stops

New rear bump stops arrived from Wins today :p

I assume, since they would appear to be a screw in item, that the raised centre piece I have on the car is all that remains of the old one and that it needs to be unscrewed. Any hints on its removal :?

I'd try a cold chisel first, catching and edge and see if it will turn. But I suspect you're going to have to drill it out or weld a head on.

If some of the bolt sticks out, I would try to weld on a nut to it. Then try to unscrew it as soon as the welding is done.

Had already tried the cold chisel method to no avail, and unfortunately I have no access to any welding equipment :(

Thanks for the tips though, I will spray more penetrating fluid and leave overnight, and see if there is any change tomorrow using the chisel.

hi not sure how much is sticking out.... is there enough to grind a slot into it and turn it with a screwdriver

Is the car roadworthy? If it is, it shouldn't cost much to get someone to weld a nut on it for you. The heat should then make it easier to unscrew.

Be happy you have something to screw your shiny new bump stops into. I had to replace both of the mountings and both stops. I say "replace" more put back where the old ones had neatly dissolved!

Heat it up, give it a whack, then heat it up an give it a whack.

Soak in penetrating oil, then heat it up give it a whack.

Then cut a slot in it with a dremel or similar, and heat it up, and hit it with an impact driver.

It it starts to move, soak in penetrating oil then impact driver again.

Bound to work :)
