Rather you than me, sir

that bonnet cant be unseen.... Obviously they had a lot of trouble getting it high unough to wedge the v8 under it....

Just one question, WHY?
The usual larger engine to fit a Spitfire is the lovely Triumph straight six, topped with a GT6 bonnet to make a "Gitfire". No need at all for a monstrosity like this.

Having started the thread in a jocular mood, I was quite suprised at the venom this car gave rise to!
I was also suprised when I googled "v8 in Spitfire" to find it is quite a common conversion; obviously I'm a bit naive.
There's some very brave people around!

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned batching session ;-)

Not my cup of tea, but I bet it's a hoot to drive

I like to see this sort of thing to be honest, as it does show what people can do if they feel that way inclined. I've seen V8s in Minis, motorcycles (350 Chevy Engine in a road bike o_O), trikes, and even a mini shell on a Range Rover chassis. All pretty awesome stuff, and when you see this kind of thing, it gives me the confidence to do the stuff I do i.e. if he can do that, I'm damn sure I can fit a fuel injection system to Sparky. (Jag diff next )
