Over the hills and far away

My longest run so far. Have recently done some 30-40km runs close to home to get some reassurance she isnt going to die on me. All being well, did a run out to Ballarat (140kms) and back yesterday - meeting of a Assoc of Motoring Clubs, including lunch. All went very well, no issues, several observations. Most of this run is 110kph limit, and once up there I found it was VERY easy to creep up close to 120k. On some longer hills she showed her wear by slowing down quite a bit, and sounding a bit laboured, but recovered well. Seems to be some road noise coming up through the tunnel cover, or even through the speaker grill - I could hear the note change as I passed over different road surfaces. There were a couple of cases of odd noises from underneath (not paranoid much!), plan to get underneath soon and check everything. Could have been stones thrown up? Temp never moved off centre gauge. Thoroughly hot through I see idle oil pressure ~20psi, at 2500rpm I see 40psi.

When I assembled the lever on the LT77 the lower boot was fitted to the steel disc as shown in the conversion notes, and the top lip fitted the tunnel well....so I am optimistic that the problem is not there, but I will check thoroughly. I just hate pulling the tunnel finisher, its such a faff getting the hand brake boot over the handle.

I used washing up liquid to lubricate my handbrake lever gaitor last time I had to remove and replace the console. Can't remember what brand, probably Fairy! Sorry to veer off the original topic! Great pic, Mick. Nice car in a lovely landscape.
