Ouch... Sleipnir's turn for a bump :(

Sorry to hear that Sleipnir suffered damage through someone else's stupidity.

I hope that you get it all sorted without too much hassle.

Ron.

What a shame Rich, hopefully sorted soon the best way for you.

On a foot note this is one club we don't want getting bigger

Well after a phone call yesterday evening trying to get me to go to their friend again I've called the insurance this morning, and i'll take it to ankerbold garage for them to have a look over it on saturday morning....

I would echo the above points. Also from experience, if you contact YOUR insurance company to tell them of the accident (might be in the smallprint of your policy) make sure to tell them that you are NOT making a claim. I didn't & it was another issue to deal with. My insurance record states that I have made a claim in the last 5 years, which I haven't.

Again, as has been said above - 'Welcome to the club'. It's unfortunately a pay-off/risk for enjoying a P6 as a daily driver.

Personally, I'd rather have my insurance company deal with the repair than the third party's. If the third party's insurance company deals with it you lose an element of control. Remember that they will be working for their client's best interests and not yours!

Having your own insurance company deal with the repairs will mean that you have to make a claim, which will be recorded as a 'no-fault claim' on your policy. That, in my view, is a small price to pay for being able to dictate the terms of the repair.....and don't do anything without checking that it is included in the insurable claim or the uninsured losses. I'm currently out of pocket following my last shunt because the third party's insurance company are disputing my uninsured losses claim.

Be warned!

Dave

I agree with Dave . The third party insurer's garage will be working on minimum rates and will be looking to cut every corner .

Dave , I remember you had a loan car for ages Was this a credit hire company ? Watch that they don't try to recover any surplus from you in person .These companies don't exist to do claimants favours , only to get as much money out of your accident as possible

They've said I can have a car while repairs are carried out and that there's a 100 pound excess which they'll attempt to recover from the other people as I'm not at fault. Don't want a car till the repairs are in progress though. That way it should be obvious as to the lay of the land at that point.

Rich.

Another check Rich, make sure it does not affect your renewal premium. I had a no fault accident, she admitted it was her fault, my insurance company dealt with it and MY premium went up £300. I also have to state I have had an accident in the last 5 years on any car insurance I take out.

Will check that. Not sure what I could do about it though. Can't leave the car as it is....

Yes it was a hire car I had provided by the claims management company. No attempt to recover any costs from me in that respect, but I opted for the excess waiver as I didn't want to be further out of pocket should someone drive into the back of the hire car. That cost me £60 which I'm still trying to get back. I also agreed with them that I would source and chase delivery of replacement parts to save them having to hunt them down. I've claimed for my time doing that. 3 hours at what I'd consider a very reasonable rate for my time. That is under dispute as well. I've told them that if they had been left to source the spares I would've had the hire car for a lot longer than I did which would've cost them more in the long run. The other aspect they can't seem to grasp is that I agreed to take it to a local repair centre that they suggested but I checked out, again more time spent there. If I had pressed the matter and not been happy with that then the car would've been transported to one of the specialist P6 repairers down south. So I reckon I've saved them a whole heap of money and they're quibbling over a couple of hundred quid  All I've had back so far is my own insurance excess.

I've passed it to my insurers and told them to sort it or they will lose my business come renewal time and I'll tell all my classic car buddies to steer away from them too, not in an open forum of course

Dave

I think that the insurance companies think everyone is trying to rip them off. I think your quite right in charging for your time and calls for sourcing parts for your car, also for all legitimate expenses incurred through the loss of your car.

Some of the claims handling staff are so inexperienced they can only deal with straightforward claims and reject anything else hoping it will go away (which it doesn't)
