yeah its still alive its sitting on my drive way :). where it says date of liability, what does that mean? does that mean its tax exempt :? because it doesnt have tax at the moment but it is on sorn as it has no MOT.

No, it's not tax exempt :( , unless it was manufactured before the end of 1972

The date of liability (I believe) is the date where the tax or sorn runs out.

Hi Lewis,

Date of Liability is the date that the vehicle is liable to be re-licenced, or a the date a new SORN must be declared from.

If you'd like to know who the former keepers are for your car, you can submit Form V888 by post (£5 fee IIRC)...available from Post Offices, or here, about halway down the page...

DVLA

DVLA are naturally a bit sniffy about releasing personal information (Data Protection Act) but if you stress on the form you only want the information for interest in a Classic Vehicle, they will release it. You even get photocopies of the old logbook entries. Worked for me!

Good luck,

This whole thing with tax exemption really gets on my nerves!
thanks for the reply's anyway and i may consider getting onto the DVLA about previous keepers because when i bought it the previous owner didn't send off his part of the log book to the DVLA so had to apply for a new one and that says its had 12 or 13 previous keepers  .
its declared as sorn so yeah im guessing that date of liability is when i need to renew the sorn.

lewis

You are correct about the liability date, it is either when the sorn or RFL expires.

The previous keeper details is worth the £5, I always do this when I get a new old banger
