Other Classics in the family

Hope she doesn't read the forum, or you're for the chop !

1955 eh, I guess that makes her a P4, nice stately drive with plenty of wood and leather....

Mines a 1967 model, so right into P6 production, more plastic than wood, complicated and good at hiding her faults !

I've just realised that we do have another classic of sorts in the family, my brother in law has a Beach Buggy, had it for years, although I haven't seen it running since they got married about 14 years ago, I did make a new fuel tank for it at least 10 years ago, but I think his restoration has stalled in a big way.

I/we still have a Mk1 Escort currently getting in my way every time I want to use my Rover. It was my sisters, then my son bought it when he was 16 and rebuilt for his first car, then when he opted to do his masters, couldn't afford to run it, so it got stored with me, then he didn't have quite enough deposit for his house and SWMBO persuaded me to purchase/take a lien on the most expensive piece of FeO in my life. It doesn't need much work to test it, but then I know he will nick it back! So I'm not doing it.

Chris, I doubt he will flog it, it has all his mispent youth attached to it! Plus I would take it off him first as it has nearly 30yrs family history, but I think he is planning to rebuild it in Sarf London style, lowered on wide steels with dog dish caps and a Pinto instead of the Kent in it at present. If I get my P6 to a standard I consider finished I might do it anyway just for fun.

My nephew in Thailand - just turned 14 - would kill for that cafe racer!

Hello Chris!
I'm sure small bikes are very popular in Thailand, link to a gallery of pictures your nephew might like:

This does get some looks, even in Japan where nice motorbikes are everywhere

When attaching the clear plastic screen to the motorcycle fairing, I slipped with a screwdriver and carved a 10cm slice through a brand-new $1,500 "House of Kolor" paint job and damaged the screen as well ...
This meant cutting back to the gelcoat by hand, reprimering the basecoat, and reapplying "Kameleon" topcoat; a 475ml can costs 67,500JPY ( ! ) and this was the 2nd can... Never felt so stupid

My old girl has a 1977 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 850 for company in the garage.
Both parked up while the piggy bank gets fattened up....

An observation I had a while back that hasn't been mentioned on this thread so far:

Is there a bit of a correlation between P6s and small BMC family cars??

I've seen quite a few people's signatures with pictures of ADO16 1100s, maybe an A40, and plenty of Minors...

This will get a chuckle; "Cool Brittania", an old Drainlayers truck ( Commer Q15 ) originally equipped with a sidevalve 4-cylinder Humber Hawk engine and "crash" 3 -speed, we are donated a Wolseley 6/110 which renders up a strong diff, a 3-speed floor change gearbox and laycock-de-normanville overdrive with a front crossmember and disc-brakes, a brake booster, a pair of leather front seats and a steering wheel, 4 x wheels and tyres + hubcaps, a wiring loom, a gastank, etc. ( $50 bucks buys the whole car ) The Wolseley towbar is subsequently sold for 50 bucks. Later, a 327 Chev. smallblock, built to Corvette specs with fuelly heads is bolted in. Result: a truck that weighs next to nothing with about 250 bhp, then a Wolseley 6/99 Auto. diff-head bolts in, making for an absurdly high top gear, overdrive top is 150 miles an hour plus...

Street legal, New Zealand, 1980's Doubt 1,000 UK pounds was spent all-up and this was a Beast, vehicles like Triumph Stags + TR-8's were left in the dust!

6/110 independent front suspension with discs; used a Morris Minor steering rack ( no expense spared! )

It's a brave man who calls his partner "my old girl" ! Sounds a bit "Hells Angel"
Ha! No, that's the Rover....'er indoors is a bit more sensitive to what she's called
The Le Mans now has an Aprilia RSV Tuono  to chat with, but that is still working it's way up to Classic status.

TokyoP6B,
I love the truck! Just the ticket.

That truck is rather interesting GW has the body been left as is or wrapped to look old :?:

It is mainly myself and my Dad that are into classic cars.
I have a 1980 1275 GT and a 1980 Mini 1000

Apart from the Rover, my Dad has a 1974 Austin 1300GT that he was given which had been off the road for 27 years which he has been getting up and running again (with the typical BMC oil leaks as can be seen on the ground)
