Hi everyone,
I have just taken ownership of a 1935 light 12. She joins my other car which is a 1953 Jowett Jupiter. My intention is to join the club and meet up with the rest of the members based in the North West. I live in Congeleton Cheshire.
I already need some help and advice. The gear change has become very stiff and its difficult to engage gears through the gate. Are the selectors easy to adjust? Also, though the car starts well, when its hot it can become difficult to restart. Engine turns over fine but will not fire up. If I leave it for 5 minutes or more it then starts. I have enriched the mixture a little and the engine at cold start ticks over ok. Is the fuel vaporising any ideas.
Regards,
Tony

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Afraid i dont know the answer to your problem but would love to see some pics of your car. Few better looking things than a prewar Rover!

Might be worth you googling the RSR website as they may have a few prewar owners on there!

Thanks Rich, will try and post some pics

Sorted both the gearchange and engine running. Took her out today and she ran really well. Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone

Only just caught up with this thread, so glad you managed to sort the problems out Tony.
Lovely looking car, a real star of a car.

I have a half share (with a relative) in a 1935 Rover 10 hp, which
is very similar to yours. We have just this year managed to get the cord operated rear window blind operating
as it was intended and the bottom opening winding mechanism for the windscreen now works but I expect screen will
still leak !
They were so well built in certain areas but sadly lacking in others, we fitted an overhauled
diff last year at odometer reading 510.000mls - it was the daily driver of a building company director from 1935
to 1966, including right through the WW2 years, when it was used overseeing, on a weekly basis, Ministry of
Works (as it then was) building defence projects ( Home Counties/Thames Valley war defence pill boxes, anti-invasion
gun positions and security of buildings, depots & airfields etc etc) we have pictures of her fitted with blackout headlamp
cowls.......

Sadly the car is not in Uk now, but I see her - and drive her, whenever I go over to France, everything works as it should, even
the "freewheel" - turn knob on the dashboard always has been stiff but it works!

Enjoy your car Tony - an enterprising and enjoyable investment, can only appreciate !

Thanks for your warm and supportive words. I love the shape of Rovers of this period and already surprised at how spritely they are.
I do not have its post war history but understand it was passed to family members and 2 of its owners had it for over 40 years between them.
