so i will be posting on here over the next many many months/years lol
i have many pictures of the car which was being worked on over 15 years but i hope it wont take that long

Looks a good starting point. You might want to fill in where you live in forum details as anyone who's nearby will then know they are!

Rich

hi thats a good point i will sort that now, im unsure which colour to go with as my plan is to try and get secondhand panels on her as they pop up often on ebay.
but looking at all the colours well which one lol
marcus :D

I envy you,,just what I would like to do!
Whatever colour you go for make sure it matches the nice leather interior you find for it!
Is it a S1 or S2? I cant quite tell?
Dash looks S1?
I hope you've got the proper log book to go with the chassis number?

Hi yes i did think about just buying one done , but a learnt with rosie that sometimes its best to start from scratch and that way you know what you have, and as we all know a good solid base unit is the most important thing. this ones all been done so i can build up from that, ive got a 60,000 miler engine to go in it, so will have it driving soon i hope.
but thats a good point interior then select panel colour to go with

Looks like heater box has been done too, and copper brake lines ?

Looks like a great starting point, get a nice Chevy LS1 v8 and jag diff and you're laughing

I guess you can make it S1 or S2 style if you want, whatever takes your fancy. It's a blank page. I'd go S1, with the ROVER lettering on the boot, would look really cool, just need a S1 bonnet and weld up the trim holes in the doors/wings.

As for colour, just pick your favourite, maybe not even a standard P6 colour, it's your car, make it whatever you want.

Good luck Marcus. The front chassis does indeed look to be in good nick and should be a good starting point. Do you know if it was originally S1 or S2? If you ignore the replacement boot, I woud tend to guess S2?

I was thinking S2 because of the vinyl roof

There wasn't a roof on the car Dave, he got the vinyl one off my series 2 after I fitted a sunroof.

The car's coming on well Marcus, it must be quite exciting to have a 'blank canvas' P6 to work on?

Hi all yes its a series 2 but im going to go series 1 as i love them, its really exciting having a good tub with all the work done i can just set to and do as i want, but i think series 1 will be good and yes engine not sure yet but have a v8 60k miler to go in, i will keep series 1 boot i think
hope to start when i get some bits
marcus

What dash is in it?
What year is it?
Have you got the log book?
Do you know the chassis number and reg number?
If no log book will probably get a Q plate!

Hi yes i do have log book, its a 1973 3500 auto, so not tax free but im ok with that, as i have rosie who is and will be my regular drive, its got no dash so it will have the dails fitted .it has no interior at all some seats i was given with it but im not keen on them, the boot has been repainted and no rust wheel arches are as they were new no welding or rust, looks like new bits on her under belly.
im just going to strip her down and repaint the the cills and bits as there s no rust at all,
ive swopped rear wings for some i had which are the colour it was , but i have pics off it complete in white.
ive also spoken to the owner of a k reg car thats been sat for 14 yrs and is looking very rotten but complete so i my bag that

Good luck with the project Marcus I look forward to following your progress :)
have you thought of a colour yet :?: or is it too early
I am a fan of cameron green  with a nice set of wheels :D or possably any dark colour. I'm sure you will make the right decision when your ready

Im thinking of fitting aircon as it has power steering already, ive looked closely at the car and the tub it is in excellent condition, ive started collecting parts even thou there all in no order as required, im really unsure if to make it look series one or to or a nada look like,
if i go series one i will go a rover colour and im thinking silver grey a modern look, if i go series two i love almond its such a smart looking colour with bronze interior, if i go nada i will go dark blue black interior.
but i may just get her on road and running well and run her with the rat look while i collect all the panels and paint.
im in no rush at moment as i have rosie , but ive started a savings account for the v8 as once i start i want to really get going on it and wipe up lots of work in one go
im still hoping to bag the rotten p6 near me
i need to strip the tub and paint under belly i would like to paint her in a good protective coat what are you guys using instead of underseal
marcus

It was very slightly cheaper to buy on ebay than through their website when i got mine - Same vendor though!

Water beads off it is the first good sign...

Rich.

Hi some epozy on order now, so ive shoe horned the car in garage ready for the big strip off lol, im going to start with removing all old underseal and removing surface rust, ive decided as im on a very tight buget  the car will be almond as it was that colour from new, and i have the rear wings boot and 3 doors and front decker panel in that colour.the boot is excellent condition.
so im after over the next year or so the following panels in almond
bonnet, front valance, front wings and rear decker panel, rear valance, im happy with used condition or even bit tatty as they will be just so i can get her on road and then i will repaint later, so if you see any during your travels please let me know thanks.
i will be posting my slow process as i proceed during the next year
marcus : :)

That's what I did! I was lucky though, I found a set of 4 doors & 4 wings off the same car on Ebay. Like you say, it gets the car on the road, and can be painted later, (although I did actually paint some of the doors straight away, as they were a bit scabby). It seems to work quite well; I consider mine to be a "10 foot car"... Looks ok from 10 feet away

Good luck with your search!
