Hello Richard,

Welcome to the forum.. :) I know that you will enjoy the time that you spend here.

Quick question if I may, is the American style number plate plinth on the front bumber an integral part and hence cannot be removed?

Ron.

Hi Ron,

every question is welcome:)
beeing busy with NADA cars since was 1-year old. haha

the number plint is fixed with 2 screws on the front bumber. see picture
I cut out a PVC-cover and sprayed it black to cover up the screws. (see earlier pics)
I thought about to put ROVER Letters on the D.I.Y. cover or and LOGO or the unionjack, but,
the front end of the NADA is already busy and that would be maybe too much.

some Trim parts of the NADA were taken from other brit. cars .(MG, TR, P5B)
the front number plinth of the US-Version of the Triumph TR6 is nearly the same, as far as I can rember.

I had the big luck to work (1985 - 2002) for the former British Leyland Austria, then renamend to G.B. Autoimport, and have seen such an TR6.
unfortunately, BMW killed all our jobs at the G.B. Autoimport before they sold Rover to Phoenix Group.

revenge against BMW
regards
Richard

shes a beaut richard ,great looker. sorry for my ignorance, but reading all about rovers and the history of rover,i still havent come across it ,what does NADA stand for, thanks karl

Hi Karl

The NADA 3500S is a USA only model made from late '68 through to 1970. NADA stands for North American Dollar Area. Strictly speaking, this model is a series 1, but incorporates all the S2 features introduced in the UK for '71. There are also lots of tweaks only ever available on this model, eg door pockets, padded transmission tunnel cover, polished stainless side trim instead of brushed, a cover plate for the bottom rear corner of the front wings, special side markers etc etc. Despite being an S it was also Auto. Most were also built with the factory Air Conditioning system and electric windows.

Welcome Richard,
your car is looking good. I was fortunate enough to be in Austria (Vienna) last year - looks like you have some good roads and nice scenery there. I bet it is a good place to go touring in a P6 during the summer.

Wow!
Welcome to the forum. Sage Green is a ridiculously rare colour. I can only claim to have seen two in my time - one a TC which for a while was in repose in Jim Brown's yard and used to belong to Simon Hill, the other a Three Thousand Five which belonged to Colin Vaughan.

Cheers
Nick

hi Karl.

sorry for the delay of my answer. yes, chrisyork explained it perfectly.
somwhere I have a list about the difference between S1 to Nada and some sales statistic (sold to which country)
As far as I know the only official title for the model, according to the parts manual, was, U.S.A. Specifaction, or Rover 3500S Automatic (Export or Home)
I have to read my owners handbook of the NADA, I believe there is also something like....Federal....in the text.
NADA stands also for "North American Dealer Association"
Whoever invented the term "NADA" ....thank you....because it sound like NASA...hahaha....and the NASA uses Lunar Rovers for their Apollo programm...:) just kidding.

It is also interesting which P6 enthusiast invented the term "teardrop" headrest or "E.T." heardrest. the name is perfect, because it looks really like the head of E.T. (spielberg-movie).
I mean, there are not many cars whose headrest where such uncommon in styling like "E.T. and the rear headrest. .absolutely spacy end 60ties design.
look at the boring headrest design of mercedes or bmw in those days...we should find a name for the rear headrest....for me it looks like a 6 or a 9....69 :)

best whishes

hi JVY....
well, there are really some cool roads to go...like alpine streets....there are heightenings and valleys always changing....if the power, the engine cooling , the brakes and the gear of the car is in good condition, you can drive the "Großglockner Hochalpenstraße". It is the highest Mouintain in Austria ...about 3798 Meters high. There is a legendary Road on that Mountain...cool view...

Hi Nick.
really? well...but why is or was the colour sage green so rare or unpopular?-...especially green is a very common "english colour"...as all non-british-people think...:)
of yourse, arden green is very awesome and maybe was more popular than sage green. I took some time for me to accept sage green on my car, because I always wanted a dark blue one with black leather.....but for years now, I am so happy with sage green and so happy with my sandalwood-interieur....the second choice would be Mango Interieur...:)
was there ever an poll about colours and interieurs ond this forum?
best wishes

Looking through the production logs it's interesting that some of the advertised colours were almost non-existent. I think particularily of April Yellow, supposedly available in the UK from 1968. It must have been special order only as when I went through the '425' (Series I Three Thousand Five) books a while ago I only actually came across ONE, whereas there were loads of them in colours like Burnt Grey (of which PAE is a rare survivor).

There were loads of Arden Green Three Thousand Fives. It's an ultimate P6 colour. Looks superb.

I don't know how many Sage Green cars there were, but it cannot of been that many, compared with other shades.

Rudiger. Is that blue one yours? If so, what colour is it? I have seen the photo before and thought the colour looked superb, there was a thought it might be Admiralty Blue?? Whatever it is, it really suits the car.

Unfortunately not my car, but a Dutch one - with a Jaguar colour (don´t know the exact name)

I very much like this dark blue colour, plus tinted screens, plus all the chome...plus Rostyles :)

Hi Ruediger....
uuhh...that's really a daaaark blue.
great colour....

look at the picture of this Rover 75 colour, I love this colour, especially on a sunny afternoon in the shadow.......Atlantic Blue metallic.
a Rover P6 would be great in this colour....but, for a P6 purist it is maybe a "no go"...because its not the original colour...

I believe it is similar to the P6 sZIRCON blue...but I have never seen ZIRCON blue face to face

best wishes
Richard

Hi Nick.
well, I never thought that.....sage green is maybe close to cameroon green...cameroon green is more sappy :)
on the other hand, S2 Cameroon green was very popular in those days in Austria. I can rember most of the P6 S2 were almond, monza red, tobacco brown, cameroon green.

Do you have an idea why there was never a "black body " colour for the whole P6 Series? I have never seen a black P6.

best wishes
Richard

There were a few factory Black P6's, including a batch for official cars in Bulgaria (?). So they were definitely made to special order. CAmeron Green is a much "greener" colour than sage, which I'd say was more towards grey. Lunar Grey is the very common green on S2's.
