MGBD Parts & Services

Just in case I may have given the wrong impression let me clarify, Geoff is not, to my knowledge going to cease trading, he has been trying to sell his business, as a going concern, for some time and despite some enquiries, as far as I know has been unsuccessful in doing so.
If he should manage to get a sale then Winns would continue, albeit under new ownership and possibly a new name.
Should he not achieve a sale then Winns would also continue but my understanding is not as an investing, expanding business (as my perception MGBD is) but as a downsizing contracting business selling many of the parts we would still all need but not investing in new lines and new tooling. The effect of this on our future parts supply is open to speculation and it could be many years before we notice but I think we'd all agree it is not a good thing.
It only takes a couple of key components to go NLS to affect us all.

Regards
Alan

Rich,

You have done, and continue to do a sterling job mate - please don't think my comments were an attack of any sort ;) I just feel that a group of decent like-minded adults should be able to share their experiences - good and bad.

I am glad that Geoff isn't closing down, but of course it's a shame that he might sell up, as he is definitely very efficient and pleasant to deal with.

Mark is also very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful - but he disappears! I hope he sees the overwhelming positives that have been mentioned here, and maybe addresses some of the little niggles...

I seem to be good at contacting Wadhams just as they are off on holiday (before Christmas and last week). I tried to phone Mark at MGBD but the phone was engaged all morning. I ordered the plug leads I needed on-line and they turned up the next morning, meaning the car was back on the road (HT lead from coil to dizzy was toast). When I emailed the suppliers before Christmas about some trim I need Wadhams replied very quickly, WINS and MGBD did both reply but quite a bit later.

have been to wins a few times . yes he has business on market but will if not sold move to a small shop in town and current premises will be put out on lease. nice guy . shame if it goes south and parts will start to get harder to locate an don doubt prices will rise. sigh. still I guess out fault not buying the more more popular MGB small sport car as that currently has best spare parts supply for classic cars in world. even new body shells can be had easily. still I did try an MGB out and decided as i have long legs ,am old and found it wasn't comfortable to get in out or sit in of long periods decide against getting one opting for a comfortable classy looking classic in shape of a P6b 3500 auto. though so far miles are few since buying and wallet empties faster than i can refill grrrr

I understand that. I guess that's up to you guys to decide what should be allowed as a whole. I've just carried the forum on in Rick's format and with his rules. Feel free to all let me know what you think...

I think that an open discussion on suppliers and repairers should be allowed. After all, they are providing a service to the community.

You're aware of my opinions on social responsibility from a club perspective, which is why I'm no longer a member of two Rover clubs. Clubs that take money from advertisers, and ignore complaints about the levels of service received are not a club that I want to be a member of.

We should be pushing for Rover and P6 ownership, but that also means that if we find a sub-standard supplier - or one with severe personality issues - then I believe that we have the responsibility to have a discussion on whether others should use them. If they then choose to, that's their call.

I have had many a discussion about several suppliers with people, and will continue to do so when asked, as I think that some of the suppliers are more interested in making money than providing a good and long-term service.

Hello Rover friends,
It is not possible for me to reach Mark Gray by email (No answer) or phone has someone an idea !

My bad experience regarding Mark Gray and MGBD Parts.

I bought an item through his online store on the 08/8/2018 costing 79 pounds. Called him the next day to confirm he received the order. He said yes and will send me an invoice. After one week I got nothing. so I tried to contact him. I left messages on this land line, his mobile phone, left message when I tried facetiming him and via e-mail. I used a different number to call Mark, he answered and was surprised, I caught him of guard. He was most apologetic and said he will act on it ASAP. A few days later he e-mails me and said he was out of stock. Funny that, he has it listed for 125 pounds nowo_O.

I talked to Mark yesterday regarding a re-sleeved brake master & a set of calipers for my Denovo car. l got through straight away.
I gather they're on holiday around the third week of this month for anyone who needs that information.
