Magnecor Leads

Been looking at replacing my leads, seen the posts and most say fit Magnecor. They are twice the price of "normal" leads, so are they worth the extra expense. they say their leads are 8mm where the others are 7mm, what other realistic differences are obtained. cheers Mick

Mick

34,000 miles after fitting mine I've not had a single misfire (touch wood  )

I have some cheap leads on at the moment but will swap to magnecors when leads gets to the top of the list...(a little way off!)

There are some others that were posted a while back as a good alternative featuring copper wound internals... I'll see if i can find the post!

Rich.

Magnecor are saying with their leads in a v8 rover engine fuel economy is increased by 10-20 %. Bold statement, anyone using these leads verify that

Hmm, only if the old leads were knackered maybe....
I have fitted Magnecors on 5 Rover V8's of varying sorts, never had a problem with any of them. A reliable, quality lead it must be said.
They do a black 7mm set too if you want a more subtle look to your engine bay.

I take the view that standard leads are knackered when new and get worse with age, in the context of a Rover V8! Cross firing of the leads is the single bigget problem on the engine.

Mick, after fitting a set to my car I would agree with the above comments. They've definitely been a worthwhile investment.

Will.

My first set of Magnecor leads ran for 18 years and 125,000 Miles without a single problem. I only changed them for a new set as I wanted new ones for my new engine... 8)

Very bold indeed. I changed my leads for Magnecor shortly after getting the car so I can't compare before and after. I also changed a few other things too so any improvement in fuel economy might have been down to a number of different factors.

Ask Magnecor to see the evidence that backs up their claim.

Very cheap... I'd be interested to hear how Rene got on with them!

Ive fitted them, they are obviously a quality item and will probably stand the test of time, the car is starting easier but this could be just down to warm air, i will try and measure the mpg on a run, if you get 18mpg then 10% isnt much more , i think its one of those things that seems expensive at the beginning and then saves you money in the future , that why i bought english made doc martens this time instead of the ones made in china, you can see and feel the difference in quality, did anyone read that 50 mgbgt's will be made at 50 grand a piece!and thanks to mark gray for getting us mentioned in practical classics, cheers mark for your hard work, rich

Good service the leads turned up today. Fitted them so now to see if their is any difference. Only thing is they say not to use the clips already on the rocker covers as they could damage the leads, their clips can be attached to the rockers, what have you guys done ?

Mick

I've used as many clips as I need to maintain separation. Their clips and the original ones. Hopefully you get an idea from this pick. Not brilliant but an idea.

Don't you just love claims like that?

So, by the time I buy the fully sympathetic oil, the right filters, solar electronic ign, kryptonite spark plugs, ex Nasa fuel, low friction tyres etc etc it will be cheaper to drive a Rover than walk to work
